    Problems... very frustrated!

The ethernet port from my modem is connected to the WAN port on the router. I've tried reseting the router and it still does the same thing. I can't access the LinkSys router info because the 192.168.1.1 is the DSL modem's stats and not the router. The only way I can get to it is if I go to the Network Connections control panel and disable the USB adapter that plugs into my modem and then to my computer.

    Problems... very frustrated!

It works fine on the laptop as the main connection but if it's connected to the router nothing happens. I followed everything in the manual and I know everything is hooked up correctly because I've had the same setups before with no problem, except I was using a NETGEAR router which had no setup screens or anything. It was just plug everything in and go and it worked beautifully. I can't enter the 192.168.1.1 on my browser because it just brings up my MSN DSL status page of my connection and not the LinkSys Setup screens. Perhaps you can walk me through the exact same steps you used to hook your computer up with the same router as mine including IP addresses and DHCP. When I used the NETGEAR one, I didn't have to do any type of setup.. like I said.. just plug everything in and it worked. With this LinkSys, it's all confusing. =( Hykster

    Problems... very frustrated!

I have a DSL cable hooked in my Ethernet port on my Modem that goes to my WAN port on my Router. Then, from one of the numbered ports on the router.. let's say port 4, from there I plug an ethernet cable in the end of the router to my laptop ethernet connection. But I still don't get a internet connection through my laptop. When I surf the web, my modem's WAN ACT light blinks crazy saying that it's recieving and transmitting data, but my WAN ACT light on my router SHOULD DO THE SAME, but it doesn't. Any suggestions?

    Problem with ATI Radeon 7000

I'm trying to help my friend on this so I'll give his comp specs and the problem. He just bought a ATI Radeon 7000 PCI for his computer of: Gateway 500mhz Celeron <---- Microsoft Windows XP 512 MB RAM PC100 10 GB HD with 1.7 GB free <---- Sound Blaster Live Audigy 5.1 ATI Radeon 7000 PCI (with updated March 21, 2002 drivers) So here's the problem.. everytime we run the computer that has a game with high details graphics or FMV like Quake III, Medal of Honor, Wolfenstein.. or just a basic Windows Media Player MOVIE file, the computer freezes up completely and you need to do a hard reboot. It seems like the ATI is really taking alot of resources and it's making his computer awfully sluggish.. even bring up the Start Menu, it's super slow in displaying folders and such. I'm starting to think that maybe the video card itself is just too much for this old machine. What do you think? Can anyone wanna help out on this? Why would this hog up all the resources and cause the computer to have a hemmorage?? I have an AMD Thunderbird 800mhz Windows XP 640 RAM PC133 with 40 GB FREE space HD with an ATI Raedon 8500 AGP.. and have no problems at all. So... you think it's a whole memory issue with the hard drive and maybe his 500mhz Celeron is just too slow for this type of Video Card? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for advance. Hykster

    Problem with ATI Radeon 7000

Thanks for the help.. I'm still baffled though. It has to be something with his other hardware or the computer itself that just don't like the video card that much.. i'm still baffled by it, but I'm gonna work on it tomorrow to see what I can come up with. Anyways, any other suggestions would be good. I'm gonna go post in rage now to see if ppl in there can help me as well. Thanks again.

Max Payne & ATI Radeon 8500 Problems

I am a proud owner of an ATI Radeon 8500 AGP Graphics card and I am having one small problem with a particular game. And that game is Max Payne. Here's my problem and specs.. AMD Athlon 800 Thunderbird 384 MB PC133 RAM Windows XP SB Live! Audigy X-Gamer ATI RADEON 8500 AGP Direct X 8 I can play Max Payne in the TUTORIAL level that you can access from the MAIN MENU and the game plays just absolutely fine, but when I try to start a NEW GAME from the MAIN MENU, the game starts to load the level and then crashes back to the DESKTOP with no error message or anything. I've tried foolin' around with the graphical settings and such and I keep getting the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what can I do to fix this? Out of a library out of all my PC games, including Return to Castle Wolfenstein , Max Payne is the only one causing this problem. I appreciate the help and thanks in advance for replies! Help me, help you! LOL. Laterz!! Hykster

    Re-formatting my HD with XP

I currently use and operate on Windows XP but I want to reformat my 40 GB HD to clean out the drive and reinstall Windows XP and such. I have done this with previous OS's. My problem is that I can't get the format c: command to work in MS-DOS mode, nor get a restore floppy disk that helps me do that in DOS mode before start up. Any ideas on how I can re-format my HD right now? (My HD is still FAT32.) Any replies would be great, thanks in advance! Hykster

    Unreal Tournament/Glide Problem

http://www.ntcompatible.com/3dfxfaq.shtml Go there.. you want to download the "Voodoo3/4/5" drivers.. its slightly over 1 MB. Lemme know if it works.

    Unreal Tournament/Glide Problem

There's custom made 3dfx drivers for voodoo 3-5 on this site (ntcompatible.com). I had the same problem and someone here told me to update the drivers with the ones on ntcompatible.com cuz they work with XP.. and it solved my problem. I just bought and ATI Radeon 8500 last night, so I put my Voodoo 3 3000 to rest. Anyways, downloading those custom drivers should solve your problem. I know it did for me. Enjoy.

2nd harddrive not listed in my computer

Double check your jumpers located on your Hard Drives from your manufactures installing manual or online. If you have 2 HD's that are of different brands, sometimes the ATA100 cable with a msi mobo has a hard time distinguishing which drive is which.. sometimes it won't register them at all. Happened to my friend one time and he ended up just buying another hard drive of the same brand and everything was fixed. If anyone else can help this guy out, please do.

    Max Payne Problems for XP

Alright, I hear that some people can get Max Payne to run just fine on Windows XP, but I hear ALOT of people say that the game errors out saying there's not enough suffient video memory on their video card.. even if it's set to low specfications. I have a Voodoo3 3000 with the lastest XP drivers (custom ones) and all of my games work just perfectly as they did with Win98/Me except for Max Payne. Anyone want to shed the light on why Max Payne is erroring out after the intro movie? HYkster

    Max Payne Problems for XP

I know 3dfx is no more... but people on this forum HAVE made Max Payne work for XP with their 3dfx cards, but they didn't say how, nor will they contact me back.. but thanks for the sarcastic remark.. it was quite hilarious.

    Unreal Tournament Problem

I haven't really tried that yet.. all your doin' is just resizing the window I believe. The window might now be the size of the screen, but it's still bein' played in the window.. which sometimes takes more resources away from you along with not fully using the 3D video card. I just want to play it full screen.. the monitor goes into 800x600 mode and displays the game just like any other game.. with no title bar, menu bar and stuff like that. But I'll do it for the hell of it. Thanks! Laterz! Hykster

    Unreal Tournament Problem

It might be a performance issue.. but the game still runs and plays and looks fine in a window... but I don't want to play it in a window.. I just can't get it to maximize to full screen, LOL. Oh well. Hykster

    RAM problems with Windows XP

When XP was only recognizing 190 of 384 MB RAM, I switched the ram around in the memory module slots and got 320 of 384 MB RAM, but no matter what during the BIOS when Windows boots up, it always says 384 MB RAM and it tests it, writes to it and says it's status is "OK." So I dunno, really weird if you ask me. Hykster

    Voodoo 3 3000 doesn't work!

I got my 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 drivers from this site (ntcompatible.com) and all of my games DO WORK with the new drivers. Diablo II runs under 3dfx Glide mode instead of DirectDraw2D. Unreal Tournament uses the card along with everything associated with Half-Life, Quake and anything else. It's working just great for me. Hykster

    RAM problems with Windows XP

Thanks for responding dude, looks like I'm not alone. I did some random tests and used my MOBO software that has a utility that tells me the RAM and temp, stuff like that, ya know and it recognizes it. Even when I play my games, I can go into the debug menu or command console and check to see how much RAM it's using and all my games recognize all of my RAM.. but the diagnostic in XP says only 320 MB instead of my full 384 MB. I'm thinking it's a possible bug... I hope. My RAM is from Kingston. Lemme know what you find out and I'll keep looking and experimenting with this. If I got it from reading 192 to 320, I must be doin' something right, LOL. Laterz! Hykster
