That works well if im just going to burn a regular music cd, with like 20 songs on it, but I want to know if you can do this some how to make an mp3 cd, with alot more songs. I dont think it is possible...........mgh Masterfinn

Ya actually i did do a reinstall on it and it happened again so im going to just get a new cheap mobo and cpu with a new hardrive cause it does seem to be maby a bad hard drive.. it is pretty old... luckey its my old old pc not my new one so im not really to worried about it.. thanx for all the help Masterfinn

Im having problems with my two cd drives. ones a dvd drive and the other a cd burner. I was just doing normal stuff on my computer nothing at all really then when i just went to put a cd in nothing happened. So i went into windows explorer to see if i could read the disk and my drives dont appear. When i go in my device manager they both have yellow question marks on them. One error says "the drivers were loaded but couldnt find the divice" and the other says "there is a configeration problem in registery and is damaged or incomplete". They are recognized on boot up and in my bios. They are also on seperate IDE . ones on primary and ones on second. I have hard drives on both as well and they are working fine. All mobo drivers are upto date and same with drivers and firmware for the drives. This is weird cause it just happend out of no were. If anyone out there knows maby what has happend or can help me to fix this it would be great.. thanx a bunch Masterfinn

I tired to first set it up with both hd's on prime IDE and the cd drives on the Second and still my drives dont come up in windows. I then changed it back to what you mentioned above exacly and still nothing.. But yet it shows fine in boot up and in device manager but nothing in windows explorer. Masterfinn

heres an update.. i just installed a whole wack of diff drivers for my mobo and chipset .. etc.. and i finally got it so that my drives dont show up with yello explaination marks on them in device manger. BUT they still dont show up in windows explorer. and will still not work if i try to run a cd. Masterfinn

i dont think my system resotre is working .. i checked if it was enabled and working under my system properties, and it is, but when i goto into my backup utility/advanced mode/Restore and Manage Media/ there is nothing there. it says no entries found.. is there something i need to do first in order to restore from a previous point???.. thanx Masterfinn

Im not using clone cd, and i dont have a via chipset. The reason i have the cdrom drives on diff IDE is for cd to cd coping. I have also already tried to do the uninstall in device manager and rebooting still nothing works. thanx for all the quick responces Masterfinn

OK, ya my home network has been working fine for a loooong time now.. i have my computer the xp box accting like the server which is connected to the internet and i have two other 98se boxes connected to a hub then connected to my computer...I have it set up with the 192.168.0.* config. so ya it was workign great for the longest of times.. everyone had access to the net.. we could share the printer and have access to everyones shared files.. but just like a few moments ago.. i was just on my computer and my bro was on one of the other ones.. and suddenly we lots contact with eacothers computers.. he cant see mine or visa versa.. for no reason.. he lost all internet access and he can no longer see my shared folders.. i also can not ping eachother from any of the computers... dido from my computer.. i try to connect to my network drives.. ie the shared folders on the 98 boxes and nothing.. cant connect to network drive.... i dotn understand why this just happend all of a sudden.. none of the network settings had change.. nothing.... i dont know?.. i tried to reisntall both nics in my computer and redo all settings.. still nothing.. from my comptuer i can access the net but thats becasue its connected directly up of course... but still ntohing for the others.. they dont have interent access and none of us can access eathothers comptuer.. this is weird how it just happend out of no were.. and no i dont have any new firewalls enabled or the windows one.. also we both were not doing anything weird when it happend.. like nothign weird at all....i was just typeing up a report and he was surfing the net... and then bam gone.. I also tried a diffent port on the back of the hub and tried to reset it.. but still nothing...... werid eh?.. anyone out there that might know whats going here please let me know.. thanx a bunch Masterfinn

I dont kown if this should be under games or hardware so ya.. anyways Everytime i play the game it will work for a bit then freeze on my and then reboot my computer i have yet to finish a game. When windows reboots it come up saying that there was a serious error.. bla bla bla and that my display driver or somthing like that is the cause.. i am running a Hercules 4500 64Mb card and according to the manual for the game that card is compatible.. and i have the newest drivers and everything.. and still it freezes durring the game.. it runs very smoooth when playing the game and super fast. anywho.. ya i dont konw why this is happing Any suggestions would be great. This is kinda the same prob i was having with my Nic in my xp box working some times and then not working.. bla bla bla.... the way i fixed it was i got a new cable from my xpbox to the router... also did you try to reinstall the nic?... or try a nother one in the xp box.. maby that went bad.... I just purchased a Linksys router. the model BEFSR41.. its 4 port, built in switch and has an uplink port. anywho.. the trouble im having with it is i cant get xp to work with it.. i have it connected to three pc's at home to 98 boxes and an xp box... the two 98 machines can use interent and share files fine thrgouh the router but i cant get my xp box on the net or nothing.. my settings im sure is right.. ihave the router set as a DHCP and all the comptuers are set to get ip automatically.. and like i said the 98 machines are set likethat and they work fine.. but for some reason the xp wont .. it says that my network is connected and on the router it shows nothing but good green lights so i thought it should be good..BUT.. when i check the status of my connection which says it is connected.. i have tonnes of sent data.. but my recived is 0... and because of this when i try to access the net i cant get out anywere. Any wouders on why no data is getting into my computer?.. i have no firewalls on at all.....im pretty sure all settings on the router are fine cause i followed everything and got the other comptuers working.. any suggestions?..... yup bad cable.. i tired the xp boxes cable on one of the other machines and it coundt connect so it was the cable.. so i got a nother cable hooked it up and it still didnt work.... all setting under ipconfig /all checked out though but stil no access to interent..... what i had to do to get it working was under my network properties/tcpip/properties/advanced/dns tab i had to check off "register these connections addresses in DNS" and it works now.. i dont kwon what that did but it seems to be working.. now i just have to figure out all these options in the router... hehe should be fun.... Thanx for all the help.. also i just wnat to know... under my network settings now there is a nother connection i see here called internet gateway.. and when i click on its properties i can bring up all these options for like ftp, http.. bla bla... whats this all about?.. i have them all checked righ tnow.. but do i need to even fiddle with this?.. is this just to alow me to specify certain ports for programs to access the net or what?... thanx again. A freind of mine just bought a new mobo and chip and asked me install everything for them.. its an older asus mb a K7V 133 to be exact and they got a slot 1 amd 900mhz cpu with it.. i set all jumpers on the mb fine as i have done that many times.. istalled all periferalls fine as well. The problem come in, when he hooks up his old hard drive with winxp on it that worked fine.. when the computer boots up .. it finds everything good, but as soon as the bios screen goes away is about to start windows it comes up with a blue screen of death.. saying something about check newlly installed harddisks for errors and gives an error code.. but ya.. we know that the drive is fine as it was working on the other mb and cpu just like 15min prior to the new stuff. I did some work on computers that had this type of problem before.. and what we found to be the problem was a video error.. so thats what i was think was going on so i tried to place a new video card in and still nothing.. the thing is the two video cards we tried were both PCI.. i dont know if this is the issue.. is it? If i have to ill do a reformat onthe drive and reinstall windows, but i was hopeing there was another way around that... anyways, any ideas would be great thanx, Masterfinn

I want to host a site off my computer. I have IIS installed with all the options. oviuslly i can access my site from my own computer by going mycomputername" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://mycomputername but im having trouble getting other people from different computers to access it. Since i dont have a domain name registarted, from other computers i have to go Http://myipaddress right?.. and then /subdir/index.html if i have many different sites running right?... anyways though is this right? everytime i try to access the my page it prompts me for a username and password under xp, and under win 98 it asked for username, password and domain. Whats this all about????....... I went under "admin tools" - "IIS" and properties of my website and under the "directory security", and then "edit" the "annoynomus access and authentication control" Here is were i should be able to change that right? .. but no matter what i change it stil comes up... how do i change this???? Nevermind i have it all working now And yes i read many many many tutorials on how to set it up and read all the documentation i could find.. the only thing that was screwing me up in the IIS properties for annonymus user access ..... my username "IUSR_name" was fine i just had to go in my "computer managent" and under users i had to change the access rights for that user. it was only set as part of the guest group.. so i changed that and now it works great... thanx anyways Masterfinn

I dont know if you all out there can help me .. the last two posts i posted for help i still have no responce.. but anyways this is my problem with my cd burner. its a Yamaha CRW2100E the problem im having is it wont burn anymore.. and whats weird is, it recognizes the burner on boot up, and in the device manager and in nero (5.5.9.0) but when i goto windows explorer there is no drive there, nothing at all comes up.. i dont understand?......... I burnt many cd's with it and never made a coaster ever.. and then just the other day while i was burning three of the same cd's half way through the last cd it quit on me... and poped out a coaster. and now thats all it does. And when i try to put a cd-rw in the drive my computer freezes up and i cant get the burner to eject the cd so i have to reboot.. weird stuff i tells ya.. i think my burner has had it... i loved this burner.. and i only got in last summer... Any suggestions????? Masterfinn

its the 16x10x40 and yes i checked the ata cable and the power everything is fine.. i dont know if its still on warrenty i ll have to dig up the reciept and contact the place were i got it from, but so far i think it is toast.... that sucks .....i loved this burner to Thanx for all the help Masterfinn

try removing it from start up. start - run - msconfig startup tab uncheck msmsgs apply reboot hope this works..... Masterfinn

the instructions for installing the firmware for my burner says i have to disable DMA, and disable Auto Insert Notification on that drive then install the firmware.. the problem im haveing is in XP when i got to disable those options, i can change the DMA but when i try to disable the Auto Insert Notification its greyed out so i cant click on it..... how can i get around this?... thanx, Masterfinn

Ok ya i have my two subs and my amp from my car stereo, and i was trying to hook them up to my computer. Now first i have an adapter that goes from the speaker port on my computers sound card to RCA which is connected to the amp. then i have the amp grounded to my computer case and i have 12V from the Power supply running to the amp. (And yes the amp is connected then to the subs fine). The problem im having is IT DONT WORK!!! darn it..... i dotn konw why either. The subs and amp are brand new and i installed everything good in my car by my self and they pounded... but i just took them out of my car to try to get them to work on my computer.. just for fun.. and so far no luck.... any suggestions? is it even possible? Ok everyone, i have it all work ing now ALRIGHTY!!!!!!! i think it was just that i had to have more power to the remote pin. so i hooked it up straight to 12V and bam!! works... the only thing now i wish i had a filter to filter out high end frequencys to i can just have bass comming fromt he subs. i do have two "line outs" on the back of my sound card so ya one will now go to the subs and the other to my regular speakers.. hehe so awesome.. pounds good....... im such a geek.... I have the Hercules Prophet 4500 64Mb not the tv out one, but still same card with the KyroII chip set.. and i have no problems under XP with it. It was cheap but the performance has been awesome.. even when i run high end games like NHL2002, Warcraft3, and Jedi Knight 2 they all run extremely smooth.. mind you though i have a 1.2Ghz athlon and i see you are running only on a PIII 450..... but im sure you will still notice a performance boost from what your running with now.
