Just a couple of simple things for you to check. Go into folder options in control panel and make sure you have SIMPLE FILE SHARING DISABLED. For a start. Then goto to the sharing and security option on your CD Drive. Select SHARED AS then PERMISSIONS then ADD then ADVANCED and FIND NOW hopefully this will display a list of users you can grant permission to. Dunno if this was any help Cheers Lee.

Hi gents, Hopefully this should clarify my prob. Setup: Basic Single NT4 DOMAIN with 1 PDC and around 150 win95 clients. Our DOMAIN is called "DOMAIN" (Original i know). When i say workgroup i mean for example the groups shown within network neighbourhood on a win95 box. Within win95 this is a simple prob, u have the option to specify the group beneath the computer name within the network properties. Unable to find this option or one similar within XP Pro. Only options i can find are domain related, dont want to change that. Thanks for your help guys. Lee

Right here goes, Currently have aprox just over 200 pc's on an NT4 network with 7 servers plus a unix, xenix & exhange server. My system is the only system running XP Pro. These systems are divided into around 15 workgroups. Dependant upon department. I used to be in the HEATHCOAT group along with my fellow IT memebers. However now I am set up in the DOMAIN group which houses all of our important bits. As you prblably guessed networking isn't my forte, but i hope this has helped a little. Cheers Gents.

Right, XP Box is loggin on to the NT4 domain where it is authenticated fine. However it is showing up in the Domain workgroup. Being displayed with the various servers. I have got around 10 workgroups, and I ideally dont want to be forced into this workgroup. I would like to be in a different workgroup, is there a way i can tell it what workgroup i want to be in. Thanx for your help.

Hi ya, To solve your problem, find the documents and settings folder by going through my computer. There you will find a few folders your admin folder and ur school user folder defined something like Username.DOMAIN all u need to do is copy the contents of the admin folder into the DOMAIN folder. Hopefully this was what u were after. Cheers.
