After working very hard on this damn problem, I finally realized that I may have needed Netbeui on my XP box. For those of you who are having this problem, follow these instructions: Insert your Windows XP CD into the CDROM drive and browse to the Valueadd\MSFT\Net\NetBEUI folder. Copy Nbf.sys to the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\Drivers directory. Copy Netnbf.inf to the %SYSTEMROOT%\Inf hidden directory. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections. Right-click the adapter you want to add NetBEUI to, and then click Properties. On the General tab, click Install. Click Protocol, and then click Add. Click to select NetBEUI Protocol from the list and then click OK. Restart your computer if you receive a prompt to complete the installation. The NetBEUI protocol should now be installed and working. Dangit all to heck. The drivers for x-gamer is not available yet for WinXP. Or am I wrong?

I have a 1.4 ghz, 128 ram computer with a gaming Creative Labs SB Live! sound card and Cambridge Soundworks speakers (4 speakers and a subwoofer). I go to Control Panel, Sound and Audio devices, speaker setting (advanced) and it's set on Quadraphonic speakers. (While I'm listening to my music on Real Jukebox, when I hit that advanced button on speaker setting, the music cuts to about 1/4 of the sound...strange), turning off then back on Real brings it back to normal. My hardware setting for this are my DVD and CDRW drive, Creative SB Live! (WDM), Creative SB Live Gameport, Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Media Controls, blah , blah blah. Anyway, before I updated with the handy Windows Update feature, all four speakers where working fine. In the update list was Creative SB Live!. Naturally, I downloaded the 2 meg file and it automatically installed it. I noticed it not working anymore...WTF?!?!?!?! Then I checked for updates again everyday after that...nothing. I even checked for an update at www.sblive.com and theres nothing. Dammit! Any suggestion?

Hi Y'all! Just for starters, I'm an idiot............. Ok, I have two computers in the household and they are both connected to a 3com network hub. When both computers had Win98SE on it, they could see each other in Network Neighborhood. I thought I'd go and get XP home edition and throw it onto one of my computers. Well, the Win98SE computer can see the XP, but the XP can't see the XP. All is checked off for XP; Client for Microsoft Networks, File and printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler (is this necessary?), NWLink NetBios, NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBios Compatible Transport Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). On the WIN98SE machine I have, Client for Microsoft Networks, IPX/SPX, NetBeui, TCP/IP and File and printer sharing. And yes, I have the little hands under my hard drives to share them. I set the IPX/SPX frame type to Ethernet 802.3 on both machines. Both Workgroup names are MSHome (default). The XP is a 1.4 ghz with 128 pc800 ram (which is simply not enough for XP cause it takes a long time to shut down and start up (network lag?)), 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 for Complete PC Management is the network card. The Win98SE is a 600 mhz with 256 ram, Intel21140 based 10/100 Ethernet Controller network card. I'm almost thinking this could be an installation problem (installing the network on the Win98se machine from the XP cd). But, then again, why is the XP having the problem and not the Win98se? The way I would set up in XP is like this; Click on network wizard, I check off that I connect to the internet directly and the other computer connect directly as well, I would select how I would connect to the internet, Computer description, computer name, then workgroup name, next, next....please wait. It would tell me that I would have to run the same thing on the other computers, so I create a floppy that never works (so I use the cd on the other computer). I'm done I think, then I would click on My network places and all I see is my hard drive. I have a friend who is training with this sort of thing and he is also baffled. What a joy it would be to show him that I was able to do this with your help. Tell me what I am doing wrong and I would love to share my experiences with everyone in the world and teach them where I went wrong (seriously).
