Welcome to this board spyros! To your problem now... you need to be more specific, i.e. what hardware do you have, do you have your win2000 installation up-to-date (windowsupdate, drivers, directx etc) and what games have you tried so far?
-
it really looks nice.....simple layout and very much to my liking. keep it up!

What do you consider the best computer game ever made?
tsonta101 replied to pr-man's topic in Slack Space
Tetris is THE all time classic game. Also, all of the Leisure Suit Larry and The Secret Of Monkey Island! -
I am using office xp (uk version) at the moment and I was wondering if I can get the files for the greek spelling from my Office 2000 CD (greek version). There should be a way of doing this, right? every little piece of help is greatly appreciated!

here's the new, exciting version of my signature...

i had never had any USB related problems with my natural pro keyboard. from the top of my head however, i am guessing that maybe the digital camera is really hogging the USB bus, causing the keyboard to stop responding. Does it only happen when you download the pictures from the camera through the keyboard?

1) Exact Audio Copy (EAC) to rip the cds. 2) LAME (set to variable bit rate, with a minimum of 192kbps). The fidelity is very good, even on home hi-fi's. It takes an around of 2.5 minutes for a 5 minute track; there are faster solutions around, like Audiograbber and Audiocatalyst, but that's just what i use.

because cmr1 does not play in win2k on my machine anyway, i assumed it should have been cmr2. good question though.... is it cmr1 or 2? the compatibility list shows cmr1 as a no go at first, but later on the page there is a workaround 1) Windows 2000 patch (from http://w1.112.telia.com/~u11203606/cmronw2k.htm ) or 2) To get this working under windows 2000, get the latest app compatability update from windows update, create a shortcut to Rally.exe, goto the shortcut properties, then the Compatability tab, select Windows 98 Compability Layer. Run the game from the shortcut you just made. hope it works for you!

ditto, cmr2 works flawlessly in w2k, with or without the patch. Is there an error message, does it abort the installation? what is the problem specifically?

I use a WinTV pci tv card. it captures at a maximum of 352x288, don't know if this suits you. It has worked flawlessly in Win2K, but i wasted a lot of time with XP, until Hauppauge released new drivers.

Has anyone tried it yet? That is, if you didn't mind downloading around 300MB. Is there anything else in there apart from drivers and the usual creative apps (like the recorder, surround mixer etc)??? I know I will hate myself for doing it, but I will download it (using my forever trusted 56K line)...Getright says another 45 hours to go!!!

amond the many cables that run off from the back of my box: 1. an Ericsson T65 (throught USB cable) 2. a Nokia 6210 (through serial cable) 3. an old Harman/Kardon amplifier, a Yamaha K340 cassette deck and a Rega 2 Planar vynil 33 1/3 rpm deck (enables me to write from/to cassettes and i still love vinyl LPs!) 4. an Epson 740 printer wouldn't qualify for unusual, would it? So, I'll through in a dot matrix Star LC 24-10!!! 5. Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick, Freestyle Pro USB pad 6. Zip 100 external (is there a way to convert a parallel port to USB? this thing is EVER so slow!) 7. RF antenna for my WinTV that's all for now.......

....hm....somebody posted yesterday that the new nvidia 28.32 drivers didn't not allow users to access the Advanced tab, in the Display properties. This was fixed later, as nvidia forked out a newer batch of the drivers. Get them again.

by the way, this is your first post, Chillout! Welcome to this newsboard!!!

ditto here, the my brother's sb pci 128 still works in win2000. Chillout, remove all creative software (that is related to the soundcard), shut down your machine and remove the card. Next, try to reinstall the card. After looking at Creative's support site (http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/drivers/welcome.asp), i saw that the driver & applications set they have is dated 13/11/2000 and it weighs 14.5Mb...try it, unless you are on a dial-up connection. A third idea: try windows update...if there is a driver for a creative soundcard, they definately have got it!

Personally, i don't find driving on the wrong side difficult - keep in mind that i am Greek, so I drive on the right (pun!) side. Interestingly, there is one advantage with having the weel on the right side of the car: after you park, you switch the engine off with your right hand and pull the handbrake with your left one, something that you can't do with the weel on the left. This also applies when getting into the car, translating to about 2 seconds faster starting and stopping time..... Apart from that, i would say that having the wheel on the left side, makes you use your better arm (the right one) for gear changes (and not the useless left one). It's easier (for most people) to use their right arms than their left arms, right? Finally consider this. We are taught that when a strange situation comes and there are no signs, the car that comes to us from the right has priority, right? Driving on a left hand drive car protects you from the impact if you are stupid enough to make the mistake. Driving on a right hand car makes you pay instantly for your fatal mistake...... Just playing with words here, but isn't it an oxymoron to say 'The wheel is on the right side. That's wrong!' let's keep this rolling....

that's some incredibly nice record to look at....well, this stuff should be out in the open, going after the customers and not vice versa.... oh, i forgot to mention www.simply.co.uk, nice service but stock levels not always where you'd want them to be (i.e 0), but when they have the stuff they are top notch. Of course, neither simply.co.uk nor any of the retailers mentioned by me before charged my card, until the stuff were ready to go from their warehouse. Whenever they didn't have it, i got an email saying 'the estimated date for product x of your order is x days' - usually 3-5. When yhe good where on their way, another email would inform me that my card has been charged and the products were shipped.
-
just out of curiosity, how did you set it up? i mean how do you set a ramdisk and then tell windows to create the pagefile on it?
-
i definately recommend www.dabs.com (UK based online retailer). In detail, I never have had a problem with dabs.com (ordered products worth over £3000 over 6 years), but (always a but!!!) 2 things to watch out: 1. Their Support Line gets worse and worse...i mean waiting for over 2hs on the phone waiting during weekdays!!! 2. They charge for delivery unless your order is in excess of £100. Also, www.komplett.co.uk and www.overclockers.co.uk are the ones that I get hardware from, when www.dabs.com rarely does not stock at the particular moment. Both highly recommended.

oops! you got me AndyFair!
