    New graphics card game problems

I just got a new GeForce4 MX440-SE graphics card so I can play Dark Age of Camelot on line. The problem is that Whenever I try to run it the game pushes me back to Windows before it's even through loading. I'm running Win98 SE with all the updates. This computer has a VIA C3 Samuel2 1GigaPro CPU with 128 MB Ram. Any help would be appreciated. Brendan 8)

    DSL problems

I just got a DSL account with Verizon but I can't get the thing to work. When I type in ipconfig /all from the command prompt I get 0.0.0.0 for an IP address. The DSL people think there is a problem with my NIC card, and so do Belkin(the NIC card maker), but I've already tried 2 different cards, and I'm a skeptic! I turned off a lot of my services to lower overhead. Is it possible that I need to turn some of them back on?

    Why install SP3?

It seems the general concensus is that Win2K-SP2 is pretty much bullet proof. It has been on my computer. Why install SP3 if this is the case? Isn't that just opening up a new can of worms? Opinions.... Terry

    Re-sized partitions and lost "C"

I have a dual boot system with 5 partitions; C = Win98SE, D = swapfile, E = data, F = Win2K, E = temporary storage of ghost files. I resized my partitions (using partition magic 5) and lost the ability to boot to "C" (my win98 OS) but I can still boot to "F" (my W2K OS). Wassuup with that?, Any Idea's? Terry

    Re-sized partitions and lost "C"

Alex; Before you sent your reply I gave up on truing to shrink the C partition. I resized the partition back to where it was when I started all this and restored C from a ghost boot image. Everything's working fine now. Thanks, Terry

    Re-sized partitions and lost "C"

I don't know, It's dual boot. Only after I choose which system to boot to do I get the error (if I choose the Win98 boot sector).

OK, I checked. The Screen message is; "Invalid system disk Replace the disk and press any key"

    Re-sized partitions and lost "C"

Screen message; Invalid system disk (or something like that). I have to wait 25minutes to reboot 'cause I just started downloading SP3. I'll check in half an hour.

    Re-sized partitions and lost "C"

I made "C" 1 gig. smaller (I still have 1 gig free on "C"), and allocated that gig to "E" and "G". "C" is still fat 32. I don't know the answer to your third question.. this is a copy of my boot.ini file (the default has always been to boot to W2K): [boot loader] timeout=20 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect /sos C:\="Microsoft Windows" MSDOS.SYS/IO.SYS/COMMAND.COM are all in c:\

    Stuck in DOS compatability mode

I just picked up a used IBM PL300 desktop and I'm having problems setting it up. After fdisk and formating the HD I loaded Win98SE. The load went OK but when it was done there was a message box telling me that the unit is operating in dos compatability mode and my master boot record may have been modified. I tried rumming fdisk /mbr but that didn't change anything. Other symptoms: windows recognizes the ide master controller but states that the primary and secondary controllers aren't working correctly. also the only way I could get the CDrom to work was to load command lines in my autoexec.bat and config. sys files. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Tia, Terry

    DSL problems

Fixed it. It turned out I needed to turn the DHCP Client service back on and set to automatic.

    DSL problems

The services that are on are; com + event system event log fax service network connections plug and play print spooler protected storage QoS RSVP remote access connection manager RPC system event notification removable storage telephony windows management instructions WMI driver extensions workstation By the way, this is a dual boot machine and the NIC and DSL work on the win98se side. how to make w2k cd with new drivers ?

Oaydin; I already kney that... Unfortunately I have a laptop, the second HD connects thru a PCMCIA port. I don't think the port will work without the cardservices support and I don't know how to initiate that support without Windows. Currently I'm ghosting partitions to images (under dos) and saving those images on HD#1. Then I load Win2K and copy the images to the PCMCIA HD.

    Win2k unprovoked program exit

Sometimes Win2k just shuts down my "CADKEY" cad program. No BSOD, no warning, no error message, it just closes the program and puts me back on the desktop (in less than 1 second). Other CADKEY users have reported this same problem in Win2k. The problem doesn't exist in Win98SE. (Win2k, SP2, PIII-450 dual boot with Win98SE) Any Idea's TIA Terry
