I'm having pretty constant hard crashes under XP, usually with the message PAGE_FAULT_IN_A_NONPAGED_AREA flashing right before it reboots. I'm running a P4 1.7Ghz with a Geforce 3 on an Intel D850GB motherboard, 384MB RAM, and a SB Audigy Plat EX. Windows used to blame my Geforce 3 for the crash, but now it doesn't even bother to do that. Instead, now it frequently it seems to cite the problem as being in win32k.sys.
I've tried a fresh install and I've tried video drivers ranging from 1240 up to 2280. Recently I noticed that dxdiag was showing that the 1240 was my main display driver instead of the 2280 nv4_disp.dll, so I messed around for a bit and got the 2280 driver to show up in dxdiag, but unfortunately that didn't seem to solve my problem.
In addition to these hard crashes, I'm having problem with scrolling and accelerated drawing. Using the mouse wheel in IE, for instance, will crash the browser. If I turn all the drawing and other 2D accelerations off, my system is crash-free... and almost entirely useless to me, as well.
Has anyone had a similar problem and (hopefully) beaten it? At first I thought it might be related to the infinite crash loop that people are reporting with XP and the geforce3, but I'm not sure what to think anymore.
