For the Intel Chipset users out there...
Thunder replied to clutch's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Worked great in Win2k, gained about 12 passmark points. Totally screwed up my duel video card setup in WinXP tho and had to uninstall it from XP. Thanks for the link, the idea has promise I think and I'm keeping it on my 2k install. -
At next boot it will fix any errors it finds. XP does the same thing.
-
That's not an error it's supposed to do that. It should give you the option to run at the next boot up.

I set it up to emulate a hard disk then pointed my pagefile to the drive letter I assigned to it. Was really easy. Also have my temp internet files on it. From the read me: AR Soft RAM Disk Version 1.20 This document lists the steps to install the AR RAM Disk either on a Windows NT or a Windows 2000 system. Also a short description how to configure the RAM Disk is included in this file. Driver Installation on a Windows 2000 system: 1. Double-click the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard applet in Control Panel. 2. Select Add/Troubleshoot a Device. 3. Select Add a new device. 4. Select No, I Want to Select the Hardware from a list. 5. Select Other Devices and then click Next. 6. Click Have Disk and point to the directory (wher you have extracted the driver files) that contains ramdisk.inf file. Driver Installation on a Windows NT system: 1. Right click to the ramdisk.inf file 2. Select Install 3. Reboot your system Configure the RAM Disk: 1. Double-click the RAM Disk applet in the Control Panel. 2. Select a free drive letter on the General tab. 3. Chose your prefered RAM Disk Size on the Geometry tab. The other settings you can configure the other disk geometies, but the default settings will also work. 4. On the File System tab your can choose an drive label for the RAM Disk. All other settings can be ignored for the normal operating. Warning: - Use AR Soft RAM Disk at your own risk. - Using large amount of memory for the RAM Disk can cause problems with other drivers or programs. Working with the RAM Disk: - You can work with the RAM Disk like with any other disk drive. - Formatting the RAM Disk with any other File System is possible when you configure the RAM Disk to emulate a local hard disk. Limits: - The maximum RAM Disk size depends on the physical memory installed on the machine and on the system configuration. - The content of the RAM Disk is lost when the RAM Disk gets unload. - When more file exist on the RAM Disk than specified in the Maximum Root Entries property the system report that the disk is full. To solve this problem increase the Maximum Root Entries in the Control Applet.

I found a list of free proxy servers but can't for the life of me figure out how to set one up in IE 6.0. How do you get these things to work? http://tools.rosinstrument.com/proxy/proxies.htm

Anyone know of any multilinking software that will allow linking two modems when an ISP doesn't support multilink, such as Midpoints that will work in XP? Or is there a way to add a second dialup adapter (such a vpn) in XP to allow Midpoint to work? This 28,800 is killing me.

Could someone remind me how to keep explorer from checking A: everytime I open it? Just started a couple days ago and I know there's a fix but can't recall it.

Troubleshooting a Stop 0x0000000A Error in Windows XP (Q314063)
-
Was duel booting 98 & Xp. Never used 98 so decided to scratch it and just go with XP. In the meantime I flashed my bios with the latest one which was supposed to allow XP to be installed without pressing F7 during setup. Now I get a stop error (0x0000007f) everytime I try to install XP and even 2k. Can/should I reflash my bios with an earlier version.? I miss my XP:(

Well that worked. Thanks.

Forcing XP to fill RAM before using Swap File?
Thunder replied to isochar's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Don't think ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1 is valid for 2k or XP HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\DisablePagingExecutive Give it a value of 1 -
I need to delete about 10 users from the log in screen, not contacts. Thanks for trying though.

Got NAV 2001 to work by installing the patch below and it has alreardy saveed me from this virus: W32.Badtrans.B@mm Good luck guys. Windows NT/2000/XP 1. Download the Sevinst.exe file from the following FTP site: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/symevnt/sevinst.exe Save the file to a folder on the hard drive, for example, C:\Windows\Temp. 2. Type <path>sevinst.exe /navnt where <path> is the folder where you downloaded the file. For example: C:\Windows\Temp\Sevinst.exe /navnt 3. Click OK. 4. Restart the computer. -

Hi APK, long time no see. Don't suppose Norton Or M$ has put out a patch to allow Norton AV 2001 to work on XP? Saved my butt many times and hate to give it up. Same with speedisk.
