Actually, I unplugged my Creative SBLive! sound card and uninstalled the Creative drivers (which were the lastest ones). Went back to the sound chip included on my MB, and the problem seems to be solved. Is there any known incompatibility with the Creative Sound Blaster Live! Player and Asus P4 motherboard or Leadtek GF4 graphics cards ??

Quote: I did not install the chipset driver, I'll try this. Tried that finally, but doesn't solve my problem either

I already tried to disable one soundcard or the other, without success, and I have the latest Creative drivers. Thanks anyway for your ideas. I did not install the chipset driver, I'll try this. By the way, is it necessary to install DirectX 8.1 with WinXP Service Pack 1 ??

No, I didn't, but all the fans are running OK. This is a fully new config (I bought it one week ago) and not overclocked. Can this be a soundcard problem, as I have two sound devices in my system ? (the SBLive! ans the SoundMax chip on the motherboard)

Hi ! I've got the following error message while clicking on some setup.exe programs (such as VIA 4in1s 4.37 for example) : (I'm sorry it's translated from French) "Unable to run 16 bits Windows programs. The program setup.exe cannot be found; make sure that all the librairies are available." Could anyone tell me what to do ? I also have the nv4_disp infinite loop BSOD, and I'd really like to give the 4in1s a try, if I only could run the setup !... Thanks.

Hi all. I'm French so please excuse my possible mistakes. From time to time (it occurred also in Win2k) my computer under WinXP freezes or even reboots automatically. That's the first problem. The worst is that when I reboot, I see weird letters in the BIOS : all the letters in the BIOS during boot seem to have been mixed. I give you an example : "Tµpe Fy to entur cqnfigzratiok men8" I thought first that my video card (a GeForce 256 with the latest NVidia drivers) was overheating, so I bought a new cooler but it happens again What could be the problem ? Overheating of the CPU ? Problem with my RAM ? I'll add that I didn't change anything in my hardware configuration when the problem started. Any idea ? Thanks.
