Don't know if the this is exactly the same problem, but there is an article from Microsoft in relation to something similar: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329692&Product=winxp

You will probably have to look at the jumpers. These motherboards are similar, but pull out your manual to be sure: three visible yellow jumpers. One next to the Northbridge is for FSB selection. This jumper has the three following options: Default, 100 MHz, or 133 MHz. It may be that your motherboard was set at 100MHz and needs to be reset for 133.

With a new motherboard (possibly 925) whose speed (ideally 1066MHz) to bypass some latencies, it would be a worthwhile investment. There are websites that claim this board is out and will be mated with the Pentium 4EE version. Massively expensive and probably only a gamers machine. Why do you want this kind of memory?

I Have Problem With BLUE SCREEN *** stop: 0x00000024....

You can run checkdisk as a precaution, but it seems like a hardware problem. The heatsink may not be seated and the processor may be shutting down from excess heat. Also, your power supply could be inadequate. You might want to look into your Event viewer log: To open Event Viewer, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer. This could give you a clue. -
You might want to try this program: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4379.html It is called StartPage Spyware Remover.

Three possibilities: 1) Your internet connection still thinks that your internal modem is the default. 2) Windows messenger comes up when you bring up Outlook Express and tries to dial out. 3) You have a trojan/virus/spyware program that is trying to dial out when you check your mail. If it is the first possibility and you want to keep your internal modem as back up, (right click on the Internet Explorer icon>Select properties>Click on Connections tab) change its status from default and choose the "Never dial out option"; click on the Lan button and put a check in the "Automatically detect settings". If windows messenger is popping up and trying to dial out, from Outlook Express, click on Tools>Options>General Tab and uncheck the automatically log on to Windows Messenger. If it is the third, run your Virus software, run Ad-aware, and hope that it finds the culprit.

XP Pro firewall......is it worth using?
Sampson replied to SnapperOne's topic in Customization & Tweaking
The Firewall in XP Pro is good only if you don't have a better one. Especially with the SP2 version, until it is configured properly, I've seen it break networks. If you like the Firewall you are using and are familiar with its procedures, don't run XP's. -
Try BHODemon 2.0 at www.majorgeeks.com for a start.

computer keeps resetting whenever i try to play a game help!
Sampson replied to gersfanjamie's topic in Hardware
On the early Intel 815 computers memory was limited to 512meg. This is a VIA setup so it is probably not limited. You have four memory banks and you have two chips in the first two. Every board will have a specification of the kind and the size for each bank. Clearly, if it has accepted the 512, it is recognizing it. On some boards in the past you had to balance the size so that you would have equal amount in each - in other words, if you had a 128 in one bank, there should be a 128 in another. Again, since your system is recognizing both memory chips, this does not seem to be a limitation for your board. Try the new BIOS first, then go from there. -

Go here: http://www.esupport.com/ They also have a 1 800 number if you want to speak with them. -
It does sound like you have some spyware problems. The usual solutions are Download, install and run Ad-Aware, BHODemon, and Spybot Search and Destroy. These will all be found at www.majorgeeks.com . I would also suggest that you install SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard. If you don't mind paying a subscription, install PestPatrol. Since you are on a cable modem, you should also install a Firewall. There is a free version of Sygate at http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3356.html Install and run all of these things. Several on this board have run into difficulties similar to your own and their solutions are somewhat complicated. Lets hope that you can rid yourself of this pest. By the way, I would use either Opera or one of the Mozilla browsers in the future.

My first reaction is to connect the modem via an Ethernet connection if you can. USB ports and DSL modems are often flakey. My second reaction is to ask if you have some kind of firewall or anti-virus program running in the background? Temporarily exit them to see if a connection can be made. What you are usually asked to do is power down both the computer and turn of the modem for about a minute or so. Power up the modem and watch the lights to see if it connects to the ISP. Then, poweer up the computer to see if the PC light comes on.

It would be helpful to know more about the machine, e.g., the type and amount of memory, the type of Video card, and the power supply, etc. Also, has it always done this or only recently and had you installed some program after which this problem surfaced? This board was touted as a overclockers board. Has it been overclocked? In any event, taking a wild stab in the dark, it sounds a lot like heat issues. Either the heatsink and fan are not seated well or the memory railing portion of the motherboard is overheating. Check to see if the heatsink is making full contact and whether the power supply is high enough to be feeding the proper voltage.

Your Address Book is found in the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\YourName.wab There are usually two "backups" entitled: C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\YourName.wab~ C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\YourName.wa~ And finally a "true" backup found here: C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\Backup\Address Book\YourName.wab Using Windows Explorer search for *.wa* and this will find where and under what "YourName" your .wab file is found. You can try two different things. From within Outlook Express you could do a File import using the "true" backup and pull what is in that file into your present .wab file. Or, using Windows Explorer, delete the YourName.wab file and then rename the YourName.wa~ to YourName.wab.

Some anti-virus programs change your direct internet connection to a proxy connection. Check to see if this is what happened on your machine. Right click on the Internet explorer icon, then click on the Connection tab, then click on the lan server button and at the bottom the advanced button. (You don't have to do any of this if you are using dialup.) If there is a proxy setting, don't change anything, just uncheck the box calling for its use, then try your software update for your anti-virus software. Change it back before you use your browser. This is one possible problem.

One of the programs that comes with the soundblaster drivers is a diagnostic. You can check here: http://alive.singnet.com.sg/ or here http://www.creative.com/support/ for the latest software for your card if you can't find the diagnostic program.

can't fullscreen dos program??? please help meeee
Sampson replied to keceman's topic in Everything New Technology
It may be a problem of the particular fonts in the 32bit system on your machine. Look at this page to get some ideas: http://www.procon.com.au/HVFullSc.htm -
If you have a "My Computer" icon, right click on it and select properties. When the badge comes up, it will tell you how much Ram your motherboard is recognizing. If you don't have a "My Computer" icon, click on Start, Settings, Control Panel and double click on the System icon. This brings up the same System Properties program on which you will be told how much Ram the motherboard is recognizing.

When you installed SP2, DirectX 9.0c should have been installed by default. If you installed a game and it directed you to use 9.0b and installed that for you, I hate to say it, but you are up the creek. It is not elegant, but re-installing SP2 should restore the 9.0c.

You need to supply us with more information. How are you connecting to the net - dialup or through DSL/Cable? In any case, right click on the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop, click on Properties, then select the tab Connections. Click on the Lan button and then look to see if the Proxy entry has a check in it. If you are not using a proxy, clear the check. If you are using a proxy, click on the Advanced button and put in the proper values.

Your Nvidia PCI card won't care if you have AGP or not, and it is probably not going to be much of an improvement over the onboard. Leave well enough alone until you get your new card that is AGP. You want a better video card, increase your budget. The Nvidia 6600 seems to be a good investment, if you can find one.

You're more than welcome.

Have you tried the "Overclocking utility" provided by Gigabyte? As to increasing the voltage, you can, but do so at small increments. This will not cure the memory problem however.
