Greetings, I have Windows 8 Pro (64 Bit) installed on my desktop computer. No issues generally except for an inability to burn CD's or DVD's. Whenever I try, my system hangs and eventually freezes. This occurs when I use Roxio or LG burner or Windows Media player. I've checked my DVD/CD burner and it is compatible with Windows 8. All CD's and DVD's play properly only the blank discs cause the problem. When I had Windows 7 running previous to the Windows 8 installation no issues occurred. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you. I finally figured out that I hadn't installed the proper chipset, raid and AHCI drivers. Now all is well!

I just updated my I-Tunes to the latest version and to my dismay all my music is now unplayeable! In Media Player all is well, just not in I-Tunes.Anyone else having this problem? Is "gapless playback" the culprit? What gives?
-
Oh my God, Apple just released an update,I-Tunes 7.0.1.8! I can play my music again. Why did the infallible Apple release a program that wasn't really ready in the first place. A page from Microsoft!!

I did clear out the playlists from within i-tunes, re-added the music files, "gapless playback" did it's thing and lo and behold all music is still unplayeable.I guess Windows Media player is all I can use until a solution is found (assuming there is one)!

My daughter turned her computer off and when she returned, turned it back on only to see the following message on her monitor: Monitor is in power save mode activate using pc. What's up. Her pc won't post at all. Is it a bad PS, motherboard, ram or what else? Any response would be appreciated. By the way, I did try a new vid card with no change in the display message.

After troubleshooting for a couple of days, I solved the problem by replacing the motherboard. All is as it once was!

I can't get into the bios, no responses from the mouse nor the keyboard. The hard drive led doesn't flash either.

I have the latest ATI Catalyst 5.7 drivers installed on my system and they work flawlessly! I ran the Microsoft Antispyware program as I regularly do and lo and behold this Trojan.93 appeared as a severe security rating. It apparently alters browser settings in an unacceptable manner. During the removal process the origin of the trojan.93 was stated as from ATI Technologies!!! What gives?

:)Set your bios to boot from the XP CD and a screen will give you the option to delete any partitions that are on the drive. Do so and then reformat the entire drive and install XP. Good luck!

I've just picked up my mother-in-law's desktop, at her request to "fix" it.On boot-up a blue screen appears with the message:autochk file not found and the computer reboots to this same message continually! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My daughter is off to university and in a house with 5 other girls. I purchased a 4 port wireless router for their use. My daughter has the wireless card but one of the other girls has a router which she wants to use on the upper floors of the house. The wireless router is obviously one port short because no one else wants to purchase a wireless connection. Can I connect one router to another without issues? If not what is the best solution? Thanks in advance!

I burned a slipstreamed Cd of XPPro SP1 and it boots and installs on my Toshiba laptop. I tried to boot and install the same CD on a Compaq laptop and all that appears is Code 5: cannot boot from CD. What gives? Any help would be apreciated! Thanks in advance. ;(

I have a Toshiba laptop (600 Mhz) running XP Pro with SP1 installed. As far as I know, I have all the latest security issues covered. I recently installed Norton Systemworks 2003. Now when I clean my C-Drive, including removing all but the last restore point, the flash.ocx file is also deleted forcing me to reinstall flash each time.Is flash installing into the internet cache? Is it installing into the temp. folder? What's happening? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm running XP Professional on an IBM Aptiva 600 MHz,512 Megs of Ram and a 15 Gig hard drive. I've needed extra space for all my downloads so I decided to install an extra hard drive. Without any available bays I went about installing a 60 Gig Maxtor drive using strapping juryrigged to my only drive case. The neat thing about Maxtor drives is that everything is easy. An installation kit is included containing all hardware, software (a Maxblast floppy and CD)that automatically leads you through checking and configuring your new drive. You will need an XP floppy boot disc (Dos) at one point during the installation so have one available. It only allowed me to format under fat32 but the drive was easily converted to NTFS using the RUN command "convert c: /fs:ntfs". No quotation marks needed and the letter used is whatever the label of your drive is.You can partition your drive as you see fit and drag and drop files to your new drive. Everything went smoothly and I'm more than pleased with the results.I heartily recommend Maxtor for the ease of installation. Good luck!

Aside from the obvious advantage of disk compression, I'm wondering if there are any disadvantages? Are added files automatically compressed? Are there any performance issues? Would love any feedback!

You'll love the Fortissimo II. It's a great card for the money and seems to be trouble free.I've had mine for two years and have updated the drivers twice from the Hercules site.Good luck!

I installed the Radeon 7500 video card on my IBM Aptiva running XP Professional under NTFS.I was very pleased with the overall performance of the card and would endorse it for any system! My adventure began with the decision to perform my semi-annual reformat.I set the Bios to boot from the CD, inserted the XP disc and rebooted.Everything was fine until the message "loading windows" appeared. At this point the monitor immediatly shut down.I tried again 5 more times with the same result each time. After seeking advice I decided to reinstall my old 8 Meg video card and try again. This time everything went perfectly to completion. I then reinstalled the Radeon and everthing is back to normal. Conclusion: There is a software or hardware issue between the ATI chip and XP installation. Why?

Thanx CrazyKillerMan! You were right. I unplugged the S-video cable and the XP installation proceeded normally. I'll remember this for the future.

I am an educator with a wireless (Linksys PCMCIA card)PC.I have successfully configured my Toshiba laptop with an airport (MAC) wireless network at my school. It works great with a range equal to the ibooks in our department. For anyone interested, I will outline what I did to accomplish this connection; 1. Update software and firmware from Linksys site. 2. Have network administrator access the airport base station and obtain encryption code for a third party wireless card. 3. Set up linksys cofiguration utility under infrastructure,SSID (enter ID of airport basestation),Tx rate fully automatic,PS mode disabled. 4. Set up encryption manually ( enter encryption code here) 5. Reboot and good luck!
