clinton23 0 Posted October 8, 2000 I want to connect two networks together. One is in one city, and the other is somewhere else. Network 1 has a router that routes traffic to the ISP, and is the DHCP server. Network 2 does the exact same thing. But the BDC on Network 1 cannot find the PDC on Network 2. I have setup LMHOSTS and WINS. I can now find the PDC's computer with NetBOIS names (ie. \\pdc). But when I open server manager or user manager, it cannot locate the PDC. What am i doing wrong. How do I make two remote locations a LAN? Misc info: NT4 Server Netopia routers DSL Tried static IP's Share this post Link to post
Aegeas 0 Posted October 9, 2000 I could be wrong butI believe you are going to have to "tunnel" across the 'net to get it to appear as a LAN. Now VPN is a cranky beyatch so you are going to have to do some serious matching in regards to your hardware supporting VPN (routers, etc). Share this post Link to post
FrogMaster 0 Posted October 10, 2000 Me again. You will find an illustration of what you want to do there: http://www.helmig.com/j_helmig/vpn.htm This does not tell how to do it precisely but confirms PPTP/VPN could be a workable solution to your prob Share this post Link to post
