Network Cable Unplugged Error Message

Recommended Posts

Is there any way to disable this error message in Windows 2000? When I disconnect my laptop from my desktop, this message drives me crazy! It pops up all the time!

Thanks!

Yeah, that does turn it off but then it messes up my proxy settings. Since I have my network card set to 90.0.0.1 and if I disable it, it defaults to 127.0.0.1 and then I have to reset Winproxy, and my other programs to use 127.0.0.1. So, when I hook up my laptop again, I have to reset proxy settings for my programs back to 90.0.0.1, since the laptop is set to 90.0.0.1.

I hope you get the picture. <G>

I should have made this clear before, but had trouble posting and wrote the short version. smile

Specify your own IP address (and other addresses) instead of having Windows make one for you.

Ok, I have it listed under Local Area Connection Properties / TCP/IP and I have it set to 90.0.0.1 under the IP Address. This is the address that I specified and Winproxy recognizes it when I boot. But as soon as I disable the network card, winproxy goes back to the Windows default of 127.0.0.1 even though it's setup as 90.0.0.1.

Is there somewhere else that I can put it so that Windows and Winproxy will detect it when the network card is disabled?

I put it also in the LMHOSTS file and told it to use it and it still didn't work once I disabled the network card.
