=== Ubuntu (for Phones) in the wild! ===

Riccardo Padovani writes about the Italian LoCo Team's presence at the

"Fiera del Radioamatore", the biggest electronics fair in the

northeastern part of Italy. He says the team was in charge of giving

several workshops, the main topics being Ubuntu 14.04's new features,

participating in the Ubuntu Community, and Ubuntu Touch.

=== Valencia: new Theme for the Ubuntu Italy Website ===

Mattia "deshack" Migliorini starts a series of posts that will follow

the development of a new theme for the Ubuntu Italy website. He makes

reference to using Canonical's Web Style guide and says the useful

design kit meant a lot of the work had already been done.

=== Svetlana Belkin: Ubuntu 14.04 Review ===

Svetlana Belkin wrote two short reviews of Ubuntu 14.04, one for the

desktop and one for the tablet. In her desktop review she highlights the

extended battery indicator abilities, "past 100%" volume option, and

live resizing of windows. For the tablet, she notes several missing

features like no app uninstall facility and no volume indicator.

=== Robie Basak: New in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS: PHP 5.5 ===

Robie Basak reminds us that Ubuntu 14.04 LTS ships with PHP 5.5, which

is a significant upgrade over PHP 5.3. He explains several of the

differences in PHP 5.5 between various distributions and upstream and

indicates the differences appear to have affected some Ubuntu users.

=== Robert Ancell: errors.ubuntu.com ===

Robert Ancell writes that one of the most useful tools he uses is

`https://errors.ubuntu.com/` which shows statistics for crash reports

sent from users machines. Robert shows us a graph showing the crash

reports received for the last six releases, noting several items of

interest.

=== Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 32-bit vs. 64-bit Performance ===

Michael Larabel of Phoronix writes about the performance advantages to

64-bit Ubuntu Linux versus 32-bit Ubuntu on a modern Intel laptop. He

says "I continue to be flabbergasted by the number of people still

asking this question when nearly all modern x86 Intel/AMD hardware fully

supports x86_64 and it generally means much better performance."

=== Testing Ubuntu, Debian and LMDE on my new notebook ===

J A Watson of ZDNet writes about his experience installing Ubuntu 14.04

LTS, Linux Mint Debian Edition and Debian testing (jessie) on a recently

purchased Acer V5-131. He explains the (extremely simple) process of

configuring UEFI boot when installing Ubuntu, concluding "Once again I

went through everything I could think of to test, and once again

everything worked. It's so nice to be bored!"

=== Vixtel Unity Tries To Be An Android + Ubuntu Tablet ===

Michael Larabel of Phoronix takes a brief look at the Vixtel Unity, an

Australian attempt to ship a tablet loaded with Ubuntu and Android.

Michael says that he doesn't have a product to test, so he refers his

readers to the Vixtel Unity website for further information.
