Dapper Dan 0 Posted January 4, 2004 As root, run: XFdrake [enter] Try different resolutions and screen sizes. There is a place in the program under "monitor" that will allow you to choose your actual monitor. Share this post Link to post

Dapper Dan 0 Posted January 5, 2004 Quote: hey dammer.. i have to spell it XFdrake correct? That actually is what I've been wondering. I can't remember if it should be lower case, but it seems I remember it is XFdrake, with the caps. Is there any way to post your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 here? If not, could you write down what is under the "Monitor" and "Screen" sections of your XF86Config-4?For reference, here's mine... danleff 0 Posted January 5, 2004 I just checked mine and the correct syntax is XFdrake (capital X and F and lowercase drake), but you need to do it as root user. Share this post Link to post

Dapper Dan 0 Posted January 6, 2004 Very simple. Oh, and congratulations on getting X windows up! How did you do it? You should be able to do what you want to do from the Mandrake Control Center. Look for the section called "software management." and install software. In the window type: "gaim" At any rate, you become root by opening a terminal and typing, su [enter] Another way to install gaim is, while you are root at a terminal, type: urpmi update [enter] then: urpmi gaim [enter] and follow the instructions..
