INFERNO2000 0 Posted August 14, 2000 Not sure if this is wise or not, I'll find out when I reboot..but when I defragged, found a file called "memory.dmp", the memory dump file, wouldn't defrag. I don't use a memory dump, so I deleted it, and freed up a nice piece of hd space. Share this post Link to post
Bursar 0 Posted August 14, 2000 The memory.dmp file is created when NT/2000 crashes with a BSOD. It basically contains the contents of your RAM at the time the crash happened. It could be useful for debugging, but in most cases, it just takes up an amount of diskspace equal to the amount of RAM you have installed. Share this post Link to post

radu185 0 Posted August 26, 2000 INFERNO you can sfely turn off this feature Ive had this off almost since i installed 2k press "Win+Pause"(if you have a windows key), or open Control Panel|System. Hit Advanced, then Startup and Recovery Under System Failure, theres a box labled Write Debugging Information, with a drop-down box, a open type box, and a check box. In the drop-box, simply click none, and it will disable memory dumping Share this post Link to post
