Small cell backhaul innovation earns CCS place at finals of World Communication Awards 2014

Recommended Posts

Cambridge, UK, 8th October 2014 - CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), creator of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces that it has been selected as a finalist for the World Communication Awards 2014. CCS was shortlisted by a judging panel of industry experts for the prestigious ‘Innovation Award’.

Now in their 16th year, the World Communication Awards (WCA) recognise innovation and outstanding performance in the global telecoms industry. The winners will be announced at a gala award ceremony in London on 2 December 2014.

This latest awards recognition adds to a record haul for CCS this year. So far in 2014, CCS has won a Small Cell Forum Industry Award (Backhaul Design and Technology Innovation category), a Cambridge News Top Innovations 2014 award, and has been shortlisted for the Leading Lights Awards 2014 (Best New Mobile Product category).

CCS’ small cell backhaul system is the only solution to meet all key requirements of mobile network operators. With self-organising, self-healing capabilities, the small outdoor devices provide a resilient network of high capacity and low latency, as well as being easily installed in less than fifteen minutes. CCS announced its first commercial deployment with China Mobile – the world’s largest mobile operator – in early 2014. The small cell network is delivering enhanced coverage and capacity in a busy urban hotspot environment in one of China Mobile’s first outdoor deployments of 4G LTE-TDD small cells.

Commenting on CCS’ World Communication Award shortlisting, CEO and Co-Founder Steve Greaves said: “2014 has been very exciting for CCS commercially, and our awards success this year is a reflection of the momentum that is now building for us as a company, and for the small cells market in general. For the innovation of our solution to now be acknowledged by the World Communication Awards panel is very gratifying indeed.â€
