Inray 0 Posted November 4, 2000 Under Win98 i used a simple method to keep a "\Windows" and "\Program Files" backup on the same hard disk so after each new programs installation - fail - crash i could restore the old and clear backups and my system was uptime always. I used DOS to delete the current system dirs and rename the backup dirs to their default system names and that saved my time. Under Win2000 there is no full text mode but only a semi-gui console and a recover console which is very very limited in functionality. I hate addon programs that copy a disk sector per sector (ala Ghost, drive image etc) Do you have any idea to keep a full win2000 installation (\Winnt and \Program Files) backup on the same disk or a second one and after a failure to restore that one over the system's ones ? Bursar 0 Posted November 4, 2000 If you're using NTFS, you'll find it more or less impossible. If you have FAT32 partitions, you could boot with a Win98 disk and do the copies that you need. Share this post Link to post
