FAT or NTFS?

Recommended Posts

I use FAT, FAT32, and NTFS. In my main system it is fat32 on c: for winme with all other partitions (D: - H: ) are NTFS. I use NTFS for win 98 in win me to allow me to view the drives as if they were native fat volumes. On my othersystem that i just built out of scrap parts is fat16 and running DOS 6.22 and WINME. I will most likely use a triple boot dos winme and win2k setup on that when i get more ram for it the new drives that i add to that system will be formated NTFS and i will probably setup NTFS for win98 on that computer aswell. I think that NTFS is better for large volumes security. FAT is good for compatibility and sh1t. When whistler is final i will be finally able to drop 9.x and DOS all together and then i will certianly use NTFS only. I would highly recomend building a second system out of old parts as it is a fun way to make a decent system with little or no cash.

I use NTFS on all my machines. I format partitions greater than 2GB with 4KB clusters.
