chermesh 0 Posted December 23, 2000 Hi, When I open the Start=>Settings=>Control Panel=>Administrative Tools on my pc, I find an empty directory. How can I add these tools to my repertoire? Ran Share this post Link to post
Shrink 0 Posted December 23, 2000 Are you logged on as an administrator? ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! jaywallen 0 Posted December 23, 2000 No real reason to think this would work, other than the fact that sometimes Windows likes to be told twice. Did you check Taskbar and Start Menu Properties for the Display Administrative Tools item? If it's already, checked, try unchecking it, the toggling it on again. Also, I'm just mentioning this because I'm not sure what your level of familiarity with W2K is, the tools are available through the Control Panel's Administrative Tools applet. chermesh 0 Posted December 24, 2000 Hi Jim, I checked the Taskbar & Task Menu. Yes, you're right, the "Display administrative tools" wasn't check. No, I checked it, but the tools didn't show up in the Administrative Tools (Control Panel). Is there anything else I can do? Ran Share this post Link to post
Shrink 0 Posted December 24, 2000 When you right click on MY Computer, do you have an option for Manage? If so, access the Computer Management Console from there and see if going at it that way works. Alternately, do a repair install of Windows 2000 and see if that fixes it. You might want to log on as Administrator (even though you might have an Administrator privileges) and see if you can get at them there. Did you by any chance disable any services to tweak Windows 2000? ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! jaywallen 0 Posted December 26, 2000 Hi, Ran. I'm sorry it took me so long to make it back to this thread. I agree with Shrink about the next processes to try. Please let us know what's happening. Regards, Jim Share this post Link to post
ancker 0 Posted December 28, 2000 Go to your Win2k CD...look in the i386 directory....there is a file called something like "adminvpack.msi" run it...it will install the admin pack Share this post Link to post
chermesh 0 Posted December 28, 2000 Hi, The closest I find is the file ADVPACK.DL_. Doesn't look like the file you refer to? I have a copy of the CD on my pc. May it be that this section wasn't copied? (My university has a contract with MS and I can get the CD almost for free. If I need it, I can easily get it.). Ran Share this post Link to post
ancker 0 Posted December 29, 2000 I'm sorry.....I was looking on my Win2k Server Disk... I'd try going to the microsoft.com and searching for the admin pack. Sorry. Ancker Jade Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted December 30, 2000 In addition, the adminpack that is being discussed is used to add server support to a workstation, rather than reinstate the existing admin support the machine came with during installation. Share this post Link to post
theelviscerator 0 Posted January 3, 2001 you can always type mmc at run console and add snapins to create a custom mmc console equivelant to admin tools Share this post Link to post
FKTOAST 0 Posted January 23, 2001 Just boot with the boot disk and run repair. Share this post Link to post
