moray 0 Posted February 5, 2001 Hi - this should be an easy question for you. I am running NT4 SP5 and am about to update to Win2k. For various reasons I am going to update and not do a clean install, and yes, I am aware of the implications of that step... What I want to know is, do I change my BIOS settings to Plug and Play OS: Yes? At present obviously it is set at No for NT4. If I do change it, at what point do I do so? After the installation is complete, before starting, halfway? Will Win2k be able to identify and configure my hardware successfully without this change? Thanks for the advice Share this post Link to post
Ge0ph 0 Posted February 5, 2001 I would change it before. But after changing it make sure NT4 has booted and is running with no porblems or errors. Then upgrade. I am just guessing though but this is what makes sence to me. Share this post Link to post

OLEerror 0 Posted February 6, 2001 You should leave your BIOS set to Plug and Play OS = No. Share this post Link to post
CUViper 0 Posted February 6, 2001 well i have pnp os set to yes, with no problems at all.... i guess it really doesn't matter Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted February 6, 2001 I agree set it to No. Yes causes more problems than no. Share this post Link to post
OLEerror 0 Posted February 6, 2001 I believe it is even noted in the manual to leave it as "No". Share this post Link to post
whoisurdaddy 0 Posted February 6, 2001 I don't think it matters for Win2k. I have tried both Yes and No and Win2k just assigns the IRQs either way. Share this post Link to post
