Win2k installation question

Hi - this should be an easy question for you.

 

I am running NT4 SP5 and am about to update to Win2k. For various reasons I am going to update and not do a clean install, and yes, I am aware of the implications of that step...

What I want to know is, do I change my BIOS settings to Plug and Play OS: Yes? At present obviously it is set at No for NT4.

 

If I do change it, at what point do I do so? After the installation is complete, before starting, halfway? Will Win2k be able to identify and configure my hardware successfully without this change?

I would change it before. But after changing it make sure NT4 has booted and is running with no porblems or errors. Then upgrade. I am just guessing though but this is what makes sence to me.

i got mine set to no and win2k runs and installs fine.

You should leave your BIOS set to Plug and Play OS = No.

well i have pnp os set to yes, with no problems at all.... i guess it really doesn't matter

I agree set it to No. Yes causes more problems than no.

I believe it is even noted in the manual to leave it as "No".

I don't think it matters for Win2k. I have tried both Yes and No and Win2k just assigns the IRQs either way.
