Sound Problems - Static

I'm haveing a problem with sound, one minute it was fine, now i am getting static now and then.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

The solution that works most often is to run dxdiag.exe found in the c:\Winnt\system32 directory, go to Sound tab and move Hardware sound acceleration level one notch to the left.
