Anaconda is the Red Hat/Fedora installer program. Both vmlinuz and Linux are tied to the Linux kernel. As far as I know, there is no database that software is installed on. Most software has executable binary files and Library files that are installed on one or more folders (directories) on one or more of the Linux partitions except the swap partition, and perhaps the boot partition. Just about every folder is a subfolder of the root folder. Can you explain what you mean by the database? ;(

Hi,

Do you mean the RPM database?

RPM uses a database to keep track of what is installed (and keep track of dependencies - I think).
