Summary: Updated postgresql packages that fix one security issue are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having Moderate security impact. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available from the CVE link in the References section. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (v. 6) - i386, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop Optional (v. 6) - i386, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux HPC Node (v. 6) - x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux HPC Node Optional (v. 6) - x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (v. 6) - i386, ppc64, s390x, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation (v. 6) - i386, x86_64 3. Description: PostgreSQL is an advanced object-relational database management system (DBMS). A memory leak error was discovered in the crypt() function of the pgCrypto extension. An authenticated attacker could possibly use this flaw to disclose a limited amount of the server memory. (CVE-2015-5288) All PostgreSQL users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which contain a backported patch to correct this issue. If the postgresql service is running, it will be automatically restarted after installing this update. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied. For details on how to apply this update, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 5.
