[SCALE 14X] Ready for SCALE 14x?

Recommended Posts

First things first: Hope everyone had a great holiday season and a

Happy New Year.

Now that we're in the starting blocks for 2016, it's worth noting that

SCALE 14X is the first-of-the-year Linux/Open Source Software event of

the year worldwide, and it's taking place from Jan. 21-24 at the

Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, Calif.

Registration is now open for the event: To register for SCALE 14X,

visit https://reg.socallinuxexpo.org/reg6/

Other SCALE 14X news includes:

– Sarah Sharp to give Sunday keynote: Sarah Sharp, a Linux graphics

software developer who focuses on Mesa and Intel userspace graphics

drivers, will be giving the Sunday SCALE 14X keynote at 10 a.m., on

Sunday, Jan. 24. She will be talking about “Improving Diversity with

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.â€Â

Sarah joins science fiction author and digital rights activist Cory

Doctorow, who will be giving the Friday SCALE 14X keynote on “No

Matter Who's Winning the War on General Purpose Computing, You're

Losing.†The Saturday SCALE 14X keynote speaker has yet to be

determined, but rumor has it that it possibly could be a celebrated

Linux/FOSS developer who has orbited the earth. Watch this space.

– UpSCALE Talks still open: It's not too late to get your UpSCALE

Talk in. What's an UpSCALE Talk? UpSCALE is held in the style of the

Ignite presentations made popular by various O'Reilly sponsored

events, where participants are given five minutes to speak on a

subject accompanied by 20 automatically-advanced slides. Those

interested in submitted an UpSCALE talk for consideration, please

submit your talk through the SCALE Call for Proposals page –

https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/14x/cfp

– and tag the talk with the UpSCALE tag. Please also include your

presentation slides, 20 slides plus one title slide along with your

submission.
