Thursday and Friday. Part unconference, part scheduled sessions, the

SCALE 14x UbuCon will cover what is going on within the Ubuntu

community and how to improve the community. Ubuntu founder Mark

Chef Training: No, you're not going to be anywhere near a kitchen

making great food, unfortunately. Chef is an automation platform that

transforms infrastructure into code. This is a hands-on tutorial that

will cover the basics that everyone needs to know about how to use

Chef for system and infrastructure management. We'll discuss the

server API, the code primitives, and the tools required to

successfully use Chef. The training session runs from 10 a.m. to 5

p.m., on Thursday and for more information, visit

http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/14x/presentations/chef-training

the roadmap for the project. They will receive an introduction to the

concept of in-memory computing and learn about the Apache Ignite

project. Attendees will also be given an overview of the Apache Spark

project, a fast and general engine for big data processing. The

workshop will conclude with sessions on how Apache Bigtop can be

introduced into an existing infrastructure for those wishing to build

their own stacks. This workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on

Thursday. For more information, visit

raising its game with a two-day, two-track event of sessions designed

for a general audience of web developers, sysadmins, DBAs and open

source users. Talks will have significant technical content. For those

of you keeping score at home PostgreSQL is a powerful, open source

object-relational database system, with more than 30 years of active

development and a proven architecture that has earned it a strong

reputation for reliability, data integrity, and correctness. It runs

on all major operating systems, including Linux, UNIX (AIX, BSD,

HP-UX, SGI IRIX, Mac OS X, Solaris, Tru64), and Windows. For more
