CD burning question

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I played with WindowsXP build 2458 and one of the first things i tested out was the built in ability to burn cds. Is there a way to know whether or not the cds are closed or left open? and if there is a way to control that, does anyone how to do that? I remember a wizard popping up when it was ready to burn the files, but i don't remember if it asked to be left open or closed...

I would suspect (as I haven't had a chance to use XP yet) that it uses packet writing rather than the method used when Nero (or whatever) burns a CD.

With packet writing you can treat the CD-R like a floppy drive just adding and deleting files at will.

yeah it would be nice to know if the CDs burned using internal CD burning are only readable in whistler or any OS

Bursar,I don't think you can delete files from a simple CD-R, but only CD-RWs.

Well OK you can't physically delete from a CDR, but you can hide files so they don't appear.

Load up EasyCD 4 and 'Import Session'.

Now delete something from the CD layout and burn the CD.

When you browse that CD the file will no longer be visable, unless you use the 'Session Select' application.
