Shutting Down

Recommended Posts

OK this is a weird question

I used to use the shutdown command that came with Win2K to schedule autoshutdowns at night, for times i download stuff and then go to bed with the PC on. The file is shutdown.exe located in the system32 dir.

In WinXP Beta 2, if i run the command it defaults to Logging the User off. Now if i specify some switches i can get it to perform a shutdown, but it won't turn off the PC, its gives the the good old Win NT4 message of "It is now safe to turn off your computer".

Anyone else have this problem, or know how to get it to turn off completely?

Nevermind, i figured out my problem, i can use the Network shutdown command tsshutdn.exe also located in the System32 directory and it shutsdown my PC just fine

I have this problem in 2600, I click turn off computer and it stops at "its now safe to shut down your compuer" (PS your computer haha not for long first WPA then monthly payments), but it dont shut it down automatically.

Other than tsshutdn.exe what can be done?

How 'bout installing the NT/Apm legacy support ? Solved the problem for me. Install it through the Add Hardware wizard.
