Phasis 0 Posted April 9, 2001 After a nice and easy install of Whistler, i tried to install the ADSL software from my provider, Telstra (aust.) and it fails to detect a valid network stack to use to connect to the net through the ADSL modem. In win2k, I have the one cable into a hub, which the adsl modem is also connected to. The NIC has it's own ip address and the adsl binds to the P.P.P.o.E. adapter which has DHCP enabled. (no ip specified) This works fine and allow simutaneous internet and LAN connections over the same cable through the same NIC. This setup does not work with XP for some reason. I can still connect to the other computer on the network so it's not the NIC which is the problem. Is there some special switch i need to enable for LAN connections to the internet to be enabled?. squall19 0 Posted April 10, 2001 I had the same problem since I'm also with Telstra ADSL, but found a solution. You don't have to install the Telstra Software, just use the 'Make New Connection' wizard in 'Network Connections' and choose the 'Broadband' option. It works perfectly for me! Let me know how you go. Squall Share this post Link to post
Phasis 0 Posted April 11, 2001 Yay, that worked sweet. I tried to do that b4, except i skipped the scren which has the information for modem connection (area code, phone number). This time i entered values into the fields and the setup did the rest.
