news 28 Posted June 27, 2016 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hi, Newmaint delegation revoked =========================== The Newmaint team is responsible of checking new Debian Maintainers applications, and ask addition of the applicants keys to the Debian Maintainers keyring. Nowadays, the process is administrative and doesn't require special powers. That is, it consists of checking that some criteria are met as described on [1] and submitting a ticket to the team responsible of up[censored] the GPG keyring. [1] https://wiki.debian.org/DebianMaintainer Following the same reasoning applied for Frontdesk [2], delegation for the Newmaint team is therefore revoked. This does not mean that the team ceases to exist, but only that it doesn't need any special powers to perform its assigned tasks. It is up to anyone to step up and help current members of the Newmaint team. [2] https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2016/04/msg00006.html Debian Sun Camp =============== Tincho and Ana organized the Debian Sun Camp [10], May 26-29. The main goal of the event was to socialize and hack with Debian folks under the sun! I attended DSC16 and had the opportunity to: - - Have lengthy (yet useful!) discussions about DebConf. Ideas on what is important in order to make a DebConf happen and how to make its organization more manageable. Discussions about this topic will happen during DebConf and on mailing-lists. - - Have an impromptu meeting with a Debian Auditor and agree on a work plan. The minutes of the meeting can be found here: master.d.o:/srv/leader/news/bits-from-the-DPL.txt.201605 - - Have fun! [10] https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2016/03/msg00007.html Anti-Harassment =============== I am pleased to announce that Laura Arjona Reina and Neil McGovern accepted to join the Anti-Harassment team [1]. [1] https://wiki.debian.org/AntiHarassment Regular pings of some teams =========================== We have many teams in Debian who deal with different organizational parts and whose work is not necessarily visible to everybody. Some of them are part of some core processes within Debian, some are contact points for people from outside the project. So it is quite important to make sure those teams are functional and active. In order to avoid surprises as much as we can, I decided to send regular pings to have an accurate idea of their status. A short reply is only what is needed. No long reports are required. If I get no reply within a month, which I consider it to be a fair delay, I may declare the team as MIA and start working on alternative plans. Reimbursement procedures ======================== Expenses made by project members for Debian are reimbursed by one our Trusted Organizations [2], depending on the kind of the expense and the enquerier's location. During the last couple of weeks, together with Debian Auditors, we tried to get procedures documented for all of our TOs [3]. More concretely, we have added reimbursement procedures for Debian France and Debian.ch. Requests made to the aforementioned TOs will be tracked in RT tickets to make it easier to track. [2] https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Auditor/Organizations [3] https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DPL/Reimbursement Next, we will work on getting these procedures simplified and unified as much as possible.
