spacey 0 Posted April 22, 2001 i'm having a very odd problem. i have a movie thats over 700 megs, so i have to use a 80min cd which can fit 730 megs right? once i burn it, there's no problems during the process of burning but when i try and copy the file back onto the hard drive, it hangs at the last 30 or so megs. as if the file is corrupted. i can play the movie fine from the cd, but if i want to copy it, it won't work ;( any thoughts? thanks Share this post Link to post
kingtrey 0 Posted April 23, 2001 80 min CDs hold 703 mb max ... i haven't come accross one that holds more than that Share this post Link to post
spacey 0 Posted April 23, 2001 yeah but i think i'm using like different units u know when you right click on a file in windows explorer... it may be like 700 MB, but then it will also say like (730,000,000 bytes) thats what i mean by 730... Share this post Link to post
kingtrey 0 Posted April 23, 2001 yeah i know what you're talking about, like how my 20 gig drive only shows like 17.4 until you go to properties ... well when you pop a CD in you can view the CD Information and it will tell you the exact size of the CD ... most of them are around 703mb or 704mb ... windows would only read it as 680mb or so if it were a drive Share this post Link to post
Down8 0 Posted April 23, 2001 Does your motherboard have a VIA chipset? If so, this may be the problem with your transfers to disk. The VIA chipsets currently have abug in them that breaks transfer of files over 100MB. Just and idea. -bZj Share this post Link to post
spacey 0 Posted April 23, 2001 not that i'm aware of, I have a Abit BH6. And I can copy over movie files that are about 650 MB file without any problems. i'm going to try the cds on other computers today. Share this post Link to post
spacey 0 Posted April 25, 2001 i've tried discjuggler, ez cd creator 5... both of them, i can't copy back any files bigger than 650 megs onto my hd after burning. i'm thinking maybe its my ASPI drivers? Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted April 25, 2001 I have an AOpen AX-34 with the Via Apollo Pro and have had no problems moving 650MB+ ISO files around. However, I have had problems copying files that large (a backup of a Progress database) from a CD back to a harddrive on several machines. I tried burning this file 3 times and gave up. It did the same thing; burned fine but couldn't be copied back to a harddrive. Share this post Link to post
