pikapan 0 Posted May 4, 2001 When I was running under Win98SE, browsing my friends' computers over Network Neighborhood was quick and painless. (Their computers were also all running Win98SE) However, ever since I upgraded to Win2k, it takes 20 seconds or so for a directory to load up now when I connect to their computers using Network Neighborhood. Can anyone tell me why and how I can fix this annoying delay problem? Thanks! Share this post Link to post
Xiven 0 Posted May 4, 2001 To increase speed browsing network shares, delete this registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace\{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}] (as found in this thread only a little way down the board: http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=13640 ) To increase speed of "My Network Places" listing either install WINS (if you have a Win2k server machine on your network) or create an lmhosts file in the directory \winnt\system32\drivers\etc There should be an example file (lmhosts.sam) in the same directory to help you. -- Xiven Share this post Link to post
