COW 0 Posted May 8, 2001 I am having some trouble getting Win2k Pro to install on my machine. I have had it installed before, and now when I boot from my cd, after it goes through the first thing where it loads the files, a blue screen error comes up every time. A lot of the times it says something about ntoskrnl.exe system specs: AMD tbird 800@1000 Asus A7V rev. 1.02 BIOS 1007 Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer GeForce 2 Pro IBM Deskstar 75GXP 15GB ATA/100 384 MB PC-100 CAS 2-2-2 RAM please help, I don't know what else to do p.s. - I also have tried installing Windows 98 SE and after it installs everything and boots into Windows for the first time, it hangs. mad2moons 0 Posted May 11, 2001 i had the same problem after a build i did, it bluescreened on w2k saying about ntoskrnl or ntkrnlmp and w90 or me wouldnt install. After stripping the machine down and starting afresh i found it to be faulty memory Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted May 11, 2001 Here are some things to try, as I have the same board so Ive had my share of problems getting it too run. 1--set the cpu back to 800, 2--set the cas timings back to 3, 3--if youre installing with the IBM hooked up to the Promise ATA100 controllers, make sure you have the latest drivers downloaded and put them on a floppy with ALL the contents from the zip file. Also, have you tried resetting the bios to the defaults. Ive found Win2k is much happier if you just leave the bios pretty much alone on this board. Share this post Link to post
