news 28 Posted March 6, 2017 Another Southern California Linux Expo is in the books. Karen Sandler started the day with a thought-provoking session titled “In the Scheme of Things, How Important is Software Freedom?†(Spoiler alert: It’s not just important, it’s vital.) Recapping, SCALE 15x was something of a mosaic. There were sessions and side conversations about virtual machines, microcontrollers, boot loaders, management tools … each a small, shiny, interesting bit. In later sessions and on the expo floor, you meet people who are assembling those shiny bits into a much bigger picture. DIY hardware boards are transformed into a clustered, auto-scaling container platform, for example. You learn how people are leveraging FOSS for everything from getting technology to children in developing countries to managing the largest enterprise infrastructures and all of the supporting services, training and resources needed to do it. Or, you can simply meet and thank the folks responsible for your favorite Open Source project. Throughout, though, is the thread of community and sharing that keeps us coming back to SCALE. 16x will be here before we know it. Meanwhile, watch for replays of recorded sessions on our YouTube channel and for copies of speaker presentations on the SCALE website. https://www.youtube.com/user/socallinuxexpohttps://www.youtube.com/user/socallinuxexpo See you next year. -- Share this post Link to post
