weid problem with converting movie files

I am trying to convert an AVI file to VCD file to play on my home DVD player but as i try to convert it using NERO, and loads of other programs about 15 - 20 mins into converting my monitor shuts down then there is loads of disk activity but nothing happening and i have to turn off the machine and back again to get it to work this same problem happens when i use any converting program

 

Any ideas good people?

as per my knowledge frnd avi and rm are not converted 2 dvd or vcd by nero

Try using Tmpgenc to encode it to MPG-2 format 1st. Then only use Nero to burn....
