missing boot.ini & standby-mode

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

The first problem is about my boot.ini ... If i start Win2k it tells me, that my boot.ini is corupted.

As I checked it out (with activated visiblity of the system files), I found out, that it is missing. So

my problem now is, that I don't know how do reconstruct it. Is there any tool, or could I do it myself.

I'm not sure, but I think, that I have got this problem since I used Norton Ghost to move my

Win2k-System from my old HD to the new one.

The second problem concernes the power management: I am not able to set my PC into the standby-mode,

although the hibernate-mode is working fine. Former none of them worked, till I've activated the APM.

Under Win98 and ME the standby-mode worked fine so the motherboard should also support it under Win2k.

My relevant hardware-details:

- 2 HD's

- Win2k is installed on the new HD (1st IDE-controller as master) in c:\winnt

- I've got a GA 686-BX from Gigabyte with the newest Bios-version

- the CPU is a PII running at 400Mhz

It would be really nice, if someone could help me.

Thanx in advance,

Brougs

Thank you Brian. I've tried the repair option and now I finally got a boot.ini.

But does anybody know a solution for my second problem with the standby mode? (descirbed in my upper post)

Thanx anyway,

Brougs
