What annoys you about Windows???

Recommended Posts

So whats your beef with Windows?

Mine is autoplay, I disable it cuz I hate it so much.

I also hate those 'Assistants' in MS Office, and that CD Icon dude in EZ CD Creator, they're in my way.

I agree on the assistants - the office paperclip, winxp's merlin.... I always disable them asap.

Autoplay is cool though, as long as it loads quickly. When it takes a while for the autoplay program to load, I get annoyed.

Autoplay, Assistants, Tool Tip boxes , stupid web-enabled folders...

Grrrr I hate those. I hate having to disable them, set the folders view etc to how I want when I reinstall or setup a new user. Its just grr, grr, grr.

I also hate those stupid personalised menus. When the icons in the tray double up, the clock doesn't right, the frames border isn't heigh enough.

The stupid "Shortcut to" prefix, all those lil things that just drive you crazy.

What annoys me more than anything is that hardware companies write crappy drivers and pass them off to consumers quickly rather than taking the time to write good quality drivers that only have to be updated for a new OS, service pack or to take advantage of some improvments in DirectX.

I give a big flip-off to hardware companies who think users will tolerate crap. At least when you use Linux, the drivers are a combination of hardware vendor and experienced hackers who nsure that the drivers are as bugless as possible.

Crappy drivers = another reason for dual-booting Linux (I may switch in the near future)

Writing an OS for the LCD.

Upon Whistler install there should be an option for "Ignorant Home User" or "Worskstation". No split Personal/Professional.
