Ekstreme 0 Posted May 22, 2001 I know this is only a minor cosmetic thing, but does anyone know if an updated explorer.exe has been released to enable 256 color system tray icons with SP2? Share this post Link to post

Cardinal 0 Posted May 22, 2001 Hey there. I downloaded the new version for sp2. I do not have a folder named dllcache so I overwrite the explorer.exe in my winnt dir and servicepackfiles dir. It does not work. I'm still getting 16 bit tray icons. Whats the story? Share this post Link to post
CUViper 0 Posted May 22, 2001 You do have a folder called dllcache - it is marked as hidden, system. Go into folder option, and on the view tab select 'show hidden files and folders'. Also unselect the box for 'hide protected operating system files'. Then try again.... And btw, you're getting 16 color icons, not 16-bit. 16-bit color depth is 65,536 colors. I see people make this mistake a lot, and I just wanted to clarify. Share this post Link to post
Cardinal 0 Posted May 22, 2001 Good call. I guess I figured it might of been hidden but was a tad lazy It's working. Thanks. - Card. Share this post Link to post
