Win2k woes.....

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i need your help. Ive recently switched one of my gaming boxes to win2k from windows ME beacause winme really pissed me off. But anyway, win2k hasn't been any better. Ever game i play, it doesn't matter which one, old and new, i will get either a lock-up, a drop to windows, or a bsod (irql_not_less_or_equal). Ive switched out memory, scanned/defragged hard drive, and bought a new sblive (lol, my other one was bad anyway).

Now, for win2k, ive installed via 4in1 4.29, sp1, all other windows updates, dx8, updated all drivers for all my cards, and still i get these problems. Now, other people have mentioned an AMD patch...but i doubt that will fix this...will it????

Oh, real quick, here are my specs:

Tbird 1.2 ghz.

Asus A7v 133a

512 MB PC-133 Micron Ram

Asus V7700 Geforce 2 GTS/PRO 64 meg DDR

SBLive!

Okay, now, i am starting to think it is a driver issue with my video card. For some reason i just cant find a stable driver. The detonator 3's (6.50) suck. I tried Asus' new beta 11.01's....they gave much problems. Ive tried the 7.52's....they didn't work.

So, does anyone know how to help me here? What drivers to use? AMD patch? Any other patches? You think its hardware related? Thanks in advance guys....

I found the Dets can be at the route of this problem. I had a similar problem briefly when messing about with different versions.

However, I have the 6.50, 7.59 and 10.80 drivers be perfectly stable under Win2k. I am running an Intel system though, so YMMV.
