Krieghund 0 Posted May 25, 2001 I am a long time fan of Total Annihilation and some other older games but have been hampered by sound problems with the SBlive Platinum. In particular if you have your DirectSound acceleration turned all the way up you could lose sounds or sound quality in these older games. Well I recently was a victim of a colossal HD crash due to people cascading power strips at a lan game (15k RPM scsi drives are sensitive to sudden loss of power). After the crash I formatted, did a fresh install of 2k, installed the 4.31 4 in 1 drivers and Service Pack 2. Now I can have my sound acceleration turned all the way up in my older games without problem! Try it. One more heads-up. Do NOT install LiveWARE (appropriately named as you should beWARE this product). Just use the most recent Drivers, not the liveware itself. They are available as 2 seperate packages. You are golden if you will put these things together in the right order. Win2k --> 4.31 drivers --> Nvidia reference drivers of your choice (11.01 for me) --> SBLIVE drivers (NOT LIVEWARE) --> Service Pack 2 --> then your games. This was the trick for me.
