emonkey 0 Posted May 25, 2001 Can anyone help? I upgraded to 2000 & I'm having trouble with my 3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. I have latest DirectX and 3dfx drivers, and have followed the advice posted on NT Compatible (in the 3dfx FAQ). Everything installs okay, but when I try to play a game with 3D Hardware support, I get a black screen and flip back to desktop. (Game runs fine w/o hardware support enabled, albeit looks awful.) My system board doesn't have AGP slot, so I'm stuck trying to get this to work with PCI. Any suggestions? BTW, using a Dell Dimension XPS M200s/3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 (driver: v3-w2k-1.03/00)/SB PCI 128 (works fine) many thanks -e Share this post Link to post
emonkey 0 Posted May 25, 2001 it's supposed to be compatible with w2k; others have run it with no problem... maybe some problem with the combination? (mm7, 3dfx, w2k) Share this post Link to post
emonkey 0 Posted May 26, 2001 I just tried MM7 on my other, newly upgraded machine (AMD Athlon/Nvidia Geforce2mx) and had the exact same problem-- flip right back to desktop. On both machines, I can run the game in soft mode, but not with the hardware support. I can't figure it out b/c other people have had no problem with MM7 and w2k, directx8, and a variety of systems. If it had just been my 3dfx system, okay, but now I feel like i'm jinxed or something. Anyway, all my other games are rockin on w2k, so maybe i'll just play mm7 on my win98 laptop, where it's perfectly happy. (but i'm still going nuts with this mystery) -e Share this post Link to post
t0mn8r 0 Posted May 28, 2001 I had a Voodoo3 2000 PCI card in one of my rigs (Pentium Pro 200, Intel MB, 64MB RAM) running Win2k, Directx8 with drivers 1.0.4 picked up from http://www.3dfxgamers.com/downloads.htm and I had no problems. I always make sure that the video card is in the first slot as that is the one that gets serviced first (IRQ). Good luck! Share this post Link to post
