a10thunder 0 Posted May 28, 2001 I'm sure this forum has talked about using the Application Compatibility Update to trick the software into thinking that Win2k is either 95, 98 or NT. However, I installed the lastest compatibility update, but can't do what the Win2k FAQ talked about. I'm trying to install Need for Speed 3 and the installation program checks if the system is either 95 or 98. If it's neither, then installation quits. I was thinking about using the Compatibility Update to get through the installation. However, when I right click on the setup program and go to properties, I do not see any place to change the OS setting. Please help me out. Thanks! Jason Share this post Link to post
ZoSo 0 Posted May 29, 2001 You need to make a shortcut to it, and it will show up. Share this post Link to post
a10thunder 0 Posted May 29, 2001 I installed the compatibility update, but I didn't see any application files created. What file do I make a shortcut of? Jason Share this post Link to post
miku 0 Posted May 29, 2001 Make the shortcut of the application you want to run in compatibility mode. Ex: The Setup.exe of NFS Right Click (Shortcut) > Properties > Compatibility Tab > Choose Windows 95/98 Layer ARC Share this post Link to post

CrazyKillerMan 0 Posted June 3, 2001 you have to make a shortcut for the file you want to enable. Right click > create shortcut then...when thats created right click and goto properties...only in hte shortcut will there be a compatiblity tab at the top. Share this post Link to post
miku 0 Posted June 4, 2001 If you dont see it, type this in run. regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll Then check the shorcut properties again. Enjoy! ARC Share this post Link to post
