smokinkane 0 Posted May 30, 2001 I was just wondering if anybody else was having a problem like the one I am having with Unreal Tournament in Win2k. It seems to lock up periodically while in game play, sometimes shortly after I started playing, and sometimes after several matches. I am on a fresh install of Win2k with service pack 2. All my other games seem to work fine. my system is: p3 850@1000 elsa geforce 2 ultra (with 12.40 detanators) 384meg of ram soundblaster live! on an Asus P2b-f I have the latest drivers for everything, I recently upgraded to the 12.40 detanators, but had the same problem with the 12.00's. thank you for any help Share this post Link to post

selenbor 0 Posted May 30, 2001 I must reinstall Win2000 then... My attempts were with older nvidia-drivers and SP1, which always resulted in coredumps over nv4disp.dll. However, Hangups resulted in this game under Win98SE, when it was not Unreal Tournament 4.36, but older. Hangups during gameplay generally over here result in either sound card eating up too many resources, or access to dvd-rom-drive during gameplay (those drives require ultra dma-mode, always a source for surprises in conjunction with atapi devices - just attach plextor burner 1210a and toshiba dvdrom 1502 both at the secondary ide of an asus p3b-f mainboard - all data read from toshiba arrives shreddered on harddisk). Brian Frank 0 Posted May 31, 2001 I've had problems running the manufacturer's doctored drivers so I just use the nVidia reference drivers. I've had the best luck with the 10.80 Detonator drivers. Share this post Link to post

rgodart 0 Posted June 1, 2001 I had that problem too, but not only in win2k, also in win98 en Me. I upped my I/O voltage to 3.6 and since then it works fine. Share this post Link to post
Hieremias 0 Posted June 1, 2001 Kill the audio hardware acceleration. I have an SBLive as well, and I got an enormous performance boost, especially on Unreal/UT game engines. It was as if I had a new computer. Share this post Link to post
