EXECUTOR 0 Posted May 31, 2001 I have a Courier I-modem external and Windows2K(SP2).... all OK to connect and work flawlessy.... but if I don't turn on the modem during the Windows2K bootstrap the modem isn't recognized and when I turn it on (because I want to use it) I have to go to the "device manager" and do a "scan for new hardware" (it takes only 5 seconds) before I could use the modem in that session.... it's very annoyng.... I have noticed the same problem even with other external modems and Windows2K Share this post Link to post

Bursar 0 Posted May 31, 2001 This is perfectly normal. Windows 2000 only detects hardware that is present at boot time. If your modem isn't switched on when you boot, then Windows can't see it. The only solution is to either switch your modem on before the PC, or re-detect it each time as you are currently doing. Share this post Link to post
