Sayow 0 Posted June 10, 2001 Hello, I am new to Windows 2000 and have recently built a new system (AMD 1.4 TB, 512MB RAM, Geforce 3, and 2 61GB IBM ATA100 drives) I have installed windows 2000 on the first drive as an HTFS partition and installed SP2, now I am ready to format my second drive for use and cannot figure out how. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Rich Share this post Link to post
Sayow 0 Posted June 10, 2001 Just to clarify...when i go into disk management, the second appears there, but it is listed as unallocated and its appears that i cannot access or format it. I assume i need to format it with an NTFS partition but cannot. Thanks again Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted June 10, 2001 Did you get any formatting software with the drive? You should be able to format it with the software. You may need a Win98 startup disk, but that's it. I'm not familiar with IBM drives, and have never had or used one. Have you tried formatting it from within My Computer? Share this post Link to post
Igor 0 Posted June 11, 2001 Right click on the drive in disk managment, alocate it and then format. Share this post Link to post
CrazyKillerMan 0 Posted June 11, 2001 If you cannot see the un-formatted drive in windows 2000, goto www.bootdisk.com and create a 98/98SE/ME boot disk and use that to go into fdisk and create a primary dos partition. Then format using the same boot disk (be sure to reboot after partitioning) then go back into win2k. Done. Share this post Link to post
