MrGrim 0 Posted June 11, 2001 What is up with that? :[ I installed WinXP and the latest drivers along with the latest 3dfx tools (I have a Voodoo5). I also installed CS fine but when I try to start a game it says that this OpenGL mode is not supported by my video card, when I know it is since I've been using it flawlessly in Win2K and Win98. BTW the modes I've tried are 800x600 and 1027x768. Do you have any ideas? Thanx in advance. Share this post Link to post
Seldzar 0 Posted June 11, 2001 Ensure your actually using the latest drivers and not the default ms ones. Check your 3dfxvsm and 3dfxvs drivers and check the version , you really should be using wicked GL for the game or D3d anyway. Share this post Link to post
MrGrim 0 Posted June 11, 2001 I do have the later WickedGL installed but no go. D3D is out of the question ... it's too ugly and slow. Do you have to install Via 4in1 drivers in WinXP? If so which ones are the best? I tried to install the latest ones but after the restart Windows couldn't find any drivers for Via BusMaster driver. Thanx in advance Share this post Link to post
noxan 0 Posted June 19, 2001 I have resolve the same problem: I have del opengl32.dll in my gldrv folder and in ...\Half-Life\ too. You can too install Win98 videocards drivers (for Geforce2MX). Share this post Link to post
Suspect 0 Posted June 21, 2001 Hey man i am having the same problem with my voodoo 5 if you find a fix for it can u let me know my icq is 62468263 Share this post Link to post
MrGrim 0 Posted June 22, 2001 Apparently the latest builds don't have support for OpenGL or Glide. I was told that the only 2 builds that do have support are 2464 and 2465. I don't have them myself so I can't confirm that. I tend to believe it though, because I can install the latest official drivers for Win2K (3dfx 1.04.00) and I can play all the games in D3D mode. Obviously the drivers work and so do the 3dfx tools. Hopefully WinXP RC1 and of course the official release will have support for all three APIs. Share this post Link to post
ThC 129 0 Posted June 22, 2001 its not up to MS to support 3rd party 3d APIs in windows. Its up to the driver manufactuer. In this case 3dFX but 3dFX is now dead so looks like you might be SOL. Share this post Link to post
shineon134 0 Posted July 5, 2001 I had the same problem when i first installed winXP. All you have to do is go get ver 12.41 detonator drivers from NVIDIA that solved my problem working great ever since. Hope this helps you out. Share this post Link to post
MrGrim 0 Posted July 10, 2001 The latest official 3dfx drivers for Win2K work fine under WinXP. It's not a drivers problem. I can play in D3D just fine, it's just a matter of WinXP not supporting the other modes. I'm not sure how this whole thing works, but I was told that there are builds that do support Glide and OpenGL for Voodoo5. Share this post Link to post
