erichui 0 Posted June 17, 2001 ok, i 've got an amd althon 1 g and 256mb ram pc133. i am running win2k pro and used to run pretty well. however, now i found that sometimes the machine performs a bit slow than it used to, could be more program installed and stuff. what i want to know is. would adding more memory gives a better performance that can be notice? if i add i am most probably going to add another 256mb ram since they aren't expensive. CUViper 0 Posted June 17, 2001 With how cheap ram is, it wouldn't be a bad idea.... Here's how to see if it will really help you though - after you system has been running a while (a few days maybe), open the task manager and go to the performance tab. Under "Commit Charge (K)" there is a field labeled "Peak". If this number is over 262144 (that's 256MB), then you are using more memory than you really have. In that case, you would definitely see improvements with more ram. Otherwise, more ram is just insurance against that for the future... Share this post Link to post
