toiletcake 0 Posted June 27, 2001 Does anyone know what's running on port 5000 of the 2481 build? I recently discovered something running that I can't track down. It's on my machine and a friends who also is running 2481. ------------------------------------ toilet:~$ telnet winxp 5000 Trying 192.168.168.3... Connected to winxp.machine.web. Escape character is '^]'. hello? anyone here? HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request Connection closed by foreign host. toilet:~$ --------------------------------------- It's not a web server, even though it behaves like one. Try it, telnet to your local machine port 5000, type something and hit return 2 times. I've turned off almost all services and still get it. Anyone know what's up? Share this post Link to post

toiletcake 0 Posted June 27, 2001 Ummm... yeah, okay, whatever that's supposed to mean. And no, it's not accepting datagram packets. Anyway we found it, under services --------- SSPD Discovery Service This port is regarded open by the scheduler for peer to peer Plug and Play functionality as network devices. ---------- Stop that and it's all good.
