Hugo 0 Posted July 3, 2001 I've been trying to install RC1, but after the first reboot once the "animated" install begins I receive an error of the form "Fatal Execption... One of the components Windows needs cannot install.... SXS install failed E:\i386\asms incorrect function" This is not an exact quote. Has anyone seen this error? My setup: ASUS A7A266 mobo 1.2 Ghz Athlon 256 PC133 RAM onboard c-media sound GeForce2 GTS NetGear FA311 NIC HP 8200 CD-R/RW. Thanks for any help!! Share this post Link to post
piXelman 0 Posted July 3, 2001 Yeah, I got the exact same message. Trying to install directly from Win2k gave me a similar error. Share this post Link to post
Hugo 0 Posted July 3, 2001 Is there a resolution to this problem? Or even a signature to what is causing it? Thanks! Share this post Link to post
Seldzar 0 Posted July 3, 2001 It's a bad cd. Reburn the cd. Try at a lower speed or a better brand of blank cdr's I've had this happen a few times and I just reburned it. Try using a different program to burn the image than the one you used. If the image was on a network drive, copy it over and then burn it. Doing any combination of the options above should get you a working disc. Share this post Link to post
